No, more a spiritual successor of Front Mission games with a more fluid and dynamic combat system.

Eh... I would much prefer having front mission's style than the frozen synapse thing they ended up with.

I wouldn't call it a clone of that either, just the combat is similar.

In Frozen Synapse you could plan your moves but you had to guess what your enemy would do. In Phantom Brigade you plan your moves and can see what your opponent will do.

Although that planning can still go sideways when unexpected things ruin the prediction.

Exactly. That's what I wanted to add about Phantom Brigade but didn't know how to write it so precisely.

Just because its turn-battle mech game, does not mean that its clone of other mecha game.
Feeling of both games are totally different. Go watch some gameplays on Youtube and check for yourself

It just feels like "Lets make a cool movie" than a game. And I found it incredibly lame. The game looks nice, animates well, sounds good, it also Uh "Plays well" but it feels skin deep. It lacks all the tactical components I want from a game like this.

Instead of having a movie timeline for the game I'd rather have a classic turn based system with *flair* - and that can be literally anything.

Take the classic Turn based combat. Add some flair to it but keep the difficulty. The management and the cover systems.

The game isn't bad.

It just feels lame. I don't want to make a Mech movie. I want to play Turn Based Tactical Game.

But maybe that's not the goal here? And if it's not the goal then whatever it's doing what it seeks to do well

I just wish it wasn't what it was. lol

The game was originally going to be turn based combat like the old front mission games. There was a demo that had those mechanics in it. Apparently the devs did not think it felt smooth enough or something and decided to change it to what it is now.

I wish they had kept the old turn based version.

I am glad the devs did this new style of gameplay. There are hundreds of Turn-based games. And if you want a turn-based mech game then isn't Battletech exactly what you described...a turn-based game with flair?

Battletech left a lot to be desired for a front mission fan. It's okay, better with mods.

I still like front mission 4 more than that though.

I like the way devs are going with time manipulation thing that isnt turn-based stuff. Concept is cool and from looks of it, its nice to play too if you into that.
There is already too little mecha games. Its good that its not going with Battletech way.
Gotta have varienty

Why not just watch gameplay and see for yourself?

The only thing remotely the same thing these two games share is the overheat mechanic. Everything else is different, just look at the gameplay vids and it's obvious.
