Steam vs Trainz Portal

I own Trainz: A New Era through Steam along with additional content I've purchased for that version. Is there any advantage waiting for the Steam release or should I just go ahead and order from Trainz Portal now? I'm concerned my previously purchased content from Steam wouldn't transfer over thus I will need to purchase them again.

There is no advantage to the Steam version at all. If DLCs should not be available please contact the Trainz helpdesk, they can help you out in most cases.
Also I think helpdesk can give you a steam key later if you purchased the game directly from them.
