AAA games have a budget of $300M and make $1B in a week. Trainz has a budget of <1% of a AAA title. In theory, the AAA titles are the ripoff, and we are the ones who are lucky to cover the cost of development.
As I have said elsewhere, the 4 year old Trainz A New Era will be on sale on Steam at 75% off very soon. TRS19 will be available at 75% off in 4 years from now (and no doubt at various discounts in between).
It is up to the consumer whether to pay the asking price or not. We believe it is great value,
... that haven't taken advantage of the new graphics settings

There are three major parts to the graphics updates:
(i) PBR (Physically based rendering) - this provides much more realistic lighting, therefore making the vast majority of content look better (including the old DLC).
(ii) new materials - these require content creators to update their models to make them look even better. We've included a range of updated items and more will happen over time.
(iii) new effects tools - TurfFX and ground clutter. These can be used by end users to update existing content to make it look even better (using the world builder is a big part of the Trainz experience).
So you can see that it is far from just 6 new maps.
I understand its not your fault when it comes to updating old textures. The game looks stunning, but the amount of maps that still have the old quality graphics in videos ive watched make me feel that the graphics for alot of maps are still outdated, of course the newest ones look great.
I guess all I have left to say is I hope the DLC is cheap, hopefully 15-20$$
when bringing out a new product with updated graphics you should either do away with DLC made for older versions, insist developers update their product or have it removed from sale, or find a way to automate the graphics update process.
There's no way I'm buying DLC for this game until I know there is a consistent quality across the product line.
that pricetag will most likely get alot of ppl to pirate the game instead of buying it.
you guys should have gone with the way DCS does it, where the game is free (or cheap) to get into and then u sell the dlcs for a reasonable price. and i am pretty sure DCS is doing quite good financially.
my 2cents, wont buy it for 60€ for sure

While we're not suggesting our engine is the ultimate, the feedback on the video trailers indicates that we're well on the right track with the latest round of updates to include PBR, parallax etc.
"From what I've heard one or two of the maps look better but the majority of the content still looks bad."

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There's a guy named Harold who agrees with you, but the vast majority of people are reporting that old content looks far better in TRS19.
And in my point of view this is certainly not justified for some digital content in any form. Yet another developer that has been added to my ignore list, will never spend any money on their games no matter how great they are.
And when games have so many DLC packages there is something seriously wrong with the base version, and they dare to ask 60,- Euro for it. A real shame I could not post this as review...
