Price justification?
Just saying holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ $69.99
I understand the way you justified the price with all the routes being 5 dollars each, .40 cents etc for certain things but 70 dollars? Thats more expensive that AAA quality games.
Not to mention to price of DLC and only 6 routes at base launch. *but the 400 locomotives of course*

Just saying after TZANE im kind of disappointed and I dont think paying 70 dollars for a graphics and performance update on a train game *but a good graphics and performance update*
Applause though for the good work you put into the game.

It's Stockholm Syndrome. They're going to just keep abusing the customers as much as possible.

Trainz is one of the cheapest hobbies you can find. $70 is a "Collector's Edition" price, and we have presented effectively the same amount of content as our "Deluxe" version of four years ago (which was the same price).

AAA games have a budget of $300M and make $1B in a week. Trainz has a budget of <1% of a AAA title. In theory, the AAA titles are the ripoff, and we are the ones who are lucky to cover the cost of development.

As I have said elsewhere, the 4 year old Trainz A New Era will be on sale on Steam at 75% off very soon. TRS19 will be available at 75% off in 4 years from now (and no doubt at various discounts in between).

It is up to the consumer whether to pay the asking price or not. We believe it is great value,

Honestly it would be but only 6 maps with updated graphics? I undrestand the rest of the maps are either DLC or ports from other games that havnt taken advantage of the new graphics settings so thats where I draw the line.

Hi Bernadsports

... that haven't taken advantage of the new graphics settings
>>

There are three major parts to the graphics updates:
(i) PBR (Physically based rendering) - this provides much more realistic lighting, therefore making the vast majority of content look better (including the old DLC).
(ii) new materials - these require content creators to update their models to make them look even better. We've included a range of updated items and more will happen over time.
(iii) new effects tools - TurfFX and ground clutter. These can be used by end users to update existing content to make it look even better (using the world builder is a big part of the Trainz experience).

So you can see that it is far from just 6 new maps.

Appreciate the responses thilliam,
I understand its not your fault when it comes to updating old textures. The game looks stunning, but the amount of maps that still have the old quality graphics in videos ive watched make me feel that the graphics for alot of maps are still outdated, of course the newest ones look great.

I guess all I have left to say is I hope the DLC is cheap, hopefully 15-20$$

As someone new to the Trainz game, I don't like the idea that if I buy DLC content I may be getting something made for an earlier inferior product with weaker graphics that haven't been updated. It makes buying DLC a minefield - will it be modern, or will it be old and obselete looking?

when bringing out a new product with updated graphics you should either do away with DLC made for older versions, insist developers update their product or have it removed from sale, or find a way to automate the graphics update process.

There's no way I'm buying DLC for this game until I know there is a consistent quality across the product line.

I have to agree there. The Only content that should be downloable for this game are routes and locos and rolling stock from TANE or items that have already been made specifically for Trainz 2019. Nothing any earlier than that allowed. We don't want Old outdated routes, locos or rolling stock..

oh and show me one AAA game with 1000 pounds of DLC ripoff
MasterLooser Jan 9, 2019 @ 11:22am
i personally have no problems with DLCs, as they are obviously optional, but the pricetag for a new modified engine is quite hefty.

that pricetag will most likely get alot of ppl to pirate the game instead of buying it.
you guys should have gone with the way DCS does it, where the game is free (or cheap) to get into and then u sell the dlcs for a reasonable price. and i am pretty sure DCS is doing quite good financially.

my 2cents, wont buy it for 60€ for sure

I must say that hefty price for a train simulator?.....no thanks.
Stars-N-Stripes Jan 9, 2019 @ 2:50pm
All I can say is buyer beware, 70 dollars for an outdated engine with poor performance ..... From what I've heard one or two of the maps look better but the majority of the content still looks bad.

"an outdated engine"
>>
While we're not suggesting our engine is the ultimate, the feedback on the video trailers indicates that we're well on the right track with the latest round of updates to include PBR, parallax etc.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There's a guy named Harold who agrees with you, but the vast majority of people are reporting that old content looks far better in TRS19.

Games (and developers) like these always make me laugh out loud. They really expect customers to pay that much money for a game that has some many DLC packages. Just checked the store page and if you want everything you will pay over 1.200,- Euro at full price.

And in my point of view this is certainly not justified for some digital content in any form. Yet another developer that has been added to my ignore list, will never spend any money on their games no matter how great they are.

And when games have so many DLC packages there is something seriously wrong with the base version, and they dare to ask 60,- Euro for it. A real shame I could not post this as review...

This game at best is worth 45$ imho, graphics upgrades dont really mean jump the price 30$, look at Train Sim world, it now uses the unreal engine 4 instead of that old outdated junk TS19+ uses. and the price is respectable ($52), and if you get the deluxe edition thats $60, still cheaper than this.
