Then I loaded up Tane, and I had even MORE trainz and routez to play with!
Trainz2019 graphics are legit. If you don't believe me, check out my screen shots in profile ;)
trainz has a handfull of good routes witch i can't find on the download station, most of them are from the 2012 area. I bought several routes in train simulator and enjoy them very much... i have trainz too from 2004, both classics up to 2019. but spend more time driving in train simulator. i don't care about building routes
I know you don’t give a damn about one discouraged customer, but I’m disappointed none the less. Time to go leave a review and warn people that if they don’t want to pay a subscription fee they’ll suffer through 5 kb/sec download rates just to get player-created content. Maybe I can save somebody else a few bucks.
Then I’ll go see if your competitor has more favorable terms, but if they use the same antiquated and frankly predatory subscription model I may write off this whole category.
The content is very poorly organized and filters don't help much.
I've been looking for sessions at an specific route, but couldn't find any way to filter for this.
Even with a large download band, which I have now due to the First Class ticket, it's an excruciating task to look for anything out of the 600k files.
Anyone knows if I can at least exclude the incompatible items from the search?
This would help a lot.
To Devs: A better curated database at Download Station would reduce connection time from players, as they will not spend so much time digging for content.
This lack of optimization might be overloading your server, and it's something you can change.
The way I got around the wait time for the download, is to select the content prior to going to bed and download overnight. This left the time during the next day or evening to use this content building the route.
There is also a limit on how much to download per day, I think it is 100mb, so it did take a little while to get the content, but it was still better than nothing.
Anyway that is how I overcome the obstacle of slowness and limiting.
I am going to be honest here. Regardless of the outcome, this 5 kb a second means it will take absolute days or weeks to install some of these mods which is beyond excessive. To pay that much for a game where it's only modding support is from their own server that they limit speeds from at an excessive low.
It is understandable to profit and I can see it only being 8 USD a month but this is pretty much just forcing people to pay for premium services. a 91 mb mod at 5 kb a second takes 5 hours to install if I mathed correctly. This is beyond excessive by all means.
I don't know if much changed but its 2023 and I promise nothing has changed either.
It's a scam, bought a 365days FCT to access full speed, I'm stuck @ 800Kb/s.
Don't buy that stuff, and never buy the game if you consider to do it. They don't deserve your money.
From a business model perspective, this makes no sense. Throttling speed to 5kb/s makes the majority of people (me included) abandon the download and therefore provides a poor user experience. I don't get to experience the free content you have marketed as available unless I pay for a higher d/l speed and it certainly puts me off purchasing any further content.
Yes, you have many people wanting to download your content and you have to throttle speeds, however, 5kb/s in this day and age of high-speed Internet is ludicrous at best and a pure money grab at worst.
If you were to offer higher speeds for people to experience your content I am sure the cost would be offset by the uptick in Payware sales.
Copying my reply from the TRS22 discussion page here.
The First Class servers can provide up to approximately 3000KB/s, however the exact speed that you see will depend on how your internet provider routes your connection to our servers. If they route you through a slow connection or node, then this will limit the maximum speed that you see. Unfortunately this is outside of our control.

Hi Romp, unfortunately even today running a dedicated download server like the Download Station is not free for us. The First Class Ticket helps to cover the cost of running the free and First Class Download Station system for Trainz. Due to the sheer number of people downloading from the Download Station each day, we do need to limit the top speed to ensure that everyone with both free and paid access is able to download from the Download Station.

Nobody is buying your sob story, not with those base game prices and the hundreds of dollars of dlc.
Also the First Class server boosting your download speed to a measly 3~ mb/s is just another kick of dirt into your customer's faces.
I live in literally the middle of nowhere, bonehead country Iowa. And yet our little phone and internet operation has been able to keep up with the times, unlike you guys, and provide 100 mb/s download speeds as apart of the BASE PACKAGE.
You do realise that buying DLC is an option given to players and not a have too? Plus N3V do not set the prices for the majority of the DLC. It is set by the authors of what they feel their own DLC is worth considering the effort and time that is needed in creating this content for the rest of us to buy if we want too.
Regarding the download speed of the First Class Ticket it all comes down to how good your own internet speed of your provider is and the traffic at the time. The Memberships options available with Trainz Plus and Gold do have the First Class Ticket included, along with other goodies.
