I purchaced and binge watched the whole series. I really think the fact that they told parts of a whole story in each episode instead of one host per episode was a huge mistake. Each host was very different and made the experience very disjointed. I purchaced this series on Steam; meaning, I have a predisposition to being a gamer. I really don't think this documentry was intended for the seasoned gamer. I've seen better stuff on youtube. The editing was all over the place.

Steam's bunk video player continues to freeze, I cannot finish half the videos I purchased. I contacted steam about this issue and they were little help. They said it was probably my internet connection (it is not) and that they cannot refund said product. So I purchased a product I cant use and now Steam wont to do anything about it.. nice.

Because of their policies, I will not be purchasing video content from steam in the future.

i have watched all 8 films now, very good quality films, you really see alot behind the scenes, and the narration and structure are super interesting. A real insight into the game industry.. top stuff

covers 8 x 45 minutes episodes, taking a historic view of the begining of Games industry, the console wars, right up to date. you see the Exbhibitions, the gaming studios that actually make all the top games. how they actually make the games in the studios. great to see the pioneers of the gaming industry in these dvds, i really liked seeing the people who made Assassins creed and call of duty plus all the big known games. the dvds show the impact on society of the gaming culture and the positives of such interations.

its suprising how much work actually goes into making PC games and how much technology is invloved etc..

I am a big believer in video games for pain management, this is what has got me back into gaming, and developing my own projects, I look forward to watching the rest.

Absolutely fantastic series. Covers so many different subjects related to gaming from the past and the present. Even touches on the future of gaming and some of the amazing innovations that are currently taking place. Subject matter is organzed well with excellent presentation. Music and editing feels like you're watching any grade A documentary or TV special. Hosts also do an amazing job of communicating the material in an interesting way. The casting of the hosts was also great because you can feel that they've have been touched by gaming in some way throughout their lives. Overall, the series is reflective of so many of the positive qualities of gaming that are experienced by people of all ages around the world.

Bottom line, this is truly an amazing series for gamers or even non-gamers to enjoy. I hope that they release more episodes in the future. Very well done. 5 out 5.

Personally, I found this series interesting and entertaining. It's a nice quick overview of video game history and different aspects of it. However, as other reviewers have pointed out, don't expect anything too detailed - the scope of the series is too wide to be detailed. I'd still recommend the series, if you're interested in video games in general. If you want information only on some one specific subject (game development, history or something else), then pick another series, though - this series is all over the place. Still, quite entertaining to watch.
