Talking real politics here: The current talk of seperatism going on in the USA right now was basically created by a new president and his beliefs of a dominate cultue and President Trump's "America first" attitude. And the Americans, Immigrants, and illegals that rally under the Mexican flag supporting Mexican culture and causing trouble (with the help of George Soros) are already affecting Trumps presidency. In reality, I feel like this is going to cause Trump to start promoting more personal control policies to quell the dissenting voices, or worse, actually create a totalitarianism military regime to shut down these voices.
With that said, I really wish there were multiple ways to address cultures in the game, in order to make the seperatism mechanic more enjoyable. Democratic countries pay profences, and then eventually, during elections, they can accept cultures. Authortarians could do something like use policies to slowly remove unwanted culture. And totalitarianism can use military for to detain and end seperatism by force.
I mean, this about it: If I'm playing as the islamic states, I'm going to be in it for implementing islamic culture into the rest of the world and crushing infedels. Rather than pay off seperatists, I'd rather just decapitate those that disagree until everyone respects Mohammed and praising Allah (starting with Germany, Sweden, and France). So, yea, I would like to see a way to crush or accept the local cultures of provences. I mean, hell, I just started a game as USA and now I have to start hocking money to Puerto Rico. I'd rather just sell Puerto Rico to Cuba than waste my time paying them off every few years. :/
So I tried playing as Casineria in New World Order, hoping to "Make Nevada Great Again." But almost immediately, I got an event that changed my culture and suddently I was plummeted into debt and there seemed like no way to get out fast enough, so I simply scrapped the run.
I love this game, but come on Devs; that's WAAAAY too much for me to manage. Maybe there's a genius or two out there than could figure out how to win under that pressure, but I sure can't.
