The advantages of the Russian carriers, all of them, are that the whole flight attacks at once. This gives you good alpha and means you won't lose any planes having to turn around for a second and third attack. Also the skip bombers, once you get used to aiming them, can be an excellent tool even against DDs. Learn how to drop them right on a ship, sometimes that's the only way.
The rocket attack planes however have a very long aiming phase. And the torpedoes are relatively slow. They do have good range for aerial torpedoes however. Often allowing you to attack from the edge or even outside AA range of your target. Still, both of those need you to give enough lead to the target, else it will sail right past your attack.

The planes don't have too many hp, which means they're not the best spotters. Keep that in mind and avoid flak clouds (change speed and heading all the time when flying within AA range, try to stay out of it in general).

Cant remember if you get the rocket assisted takeoff at T4, but you certainly do at T6. It makes your planes extremely fast for a short while after launching but they are pretty slow after that. This means that being fairly close to the front lines can greatly increase your match impact by making use of the great initial speed. Obviously be careful to be behind cover and keep an eye on the map to make sure you arent going to be spotted. Russian CVs are some of the most dangerous to enemies who push you since you can rotate strikes very quickly. Attacking targets that are on the other side of the map tends to be a mistake due to the poor plane speed - support the flank you are on.

The torps take a little getting used to but when you are comfortable with the lead you can do some impressive damage on any target. For reference, you need to be aiming about 1/2 a ship length in front of most BBs (when attacking from close range) if they are going full speed. The great range of the torps means you can often fire them from outside of AA zones meaning no risk for your planes, and dropping wide spreads on enemy smokes can sometimes nail DDs hiding there. Steering and moving the mouse will widen the torp spread to cover a larger area.

As above, skip bombers can be good against DDs. Decent DD players wont let you drop on their broadside but you might still land a little damage and you are also maybe making the target show side to a teammate.

RU CVs biggest strength is also their biggest weakness. You drop all you ordnance in one go which means potentially big hits, but decent players are more than capable of dodging a first strike from any CV and unlike other nations you dont get a follow up attack which tends to be a lot easier to hit with since they are still dodging the first one.

Good luck with them anyway :)

I think the rocket take off starts at T8, Banzai. I think... :)

I tend to play Chkalov so miss out on the rocket planes, but the other points all are the same.

Some basic stuff. Forgive me if you already know it:

- Do your best to have a strong commander on it. Find a build for him online to make sure you are getting the right skills. Look for builds for the carrier Nakhimov or at least Pobeda, they should all work the same. Plane survival skills are very important.

- Most importantly make sure many of your planes don't die. Learn which ships are strong in AA and avoid them. Avoid groups of enemy ships if you can.
- Spot enemy destroyers and subs at the start of the match. This will give your teammates knowledges of what the threat is and where it's coming from. This can be very important to help your team win. You can also attack the destroyers (subs as well if you catch them on the surface :) ) - more on that later. If there's only 1 destroyer per team, it's a huge advantage to get rid of the enemy DD so invest time in it.
- Fighters are spotters as well as anti-planes. Put them over capture points at the start and spot or attack somewhere else manually.
- Look for isolated battleships and attack them, but keep in mind that some battleships (particularly US ones) have very strong AA.

- Attack all targets from the side.

Soviet Skip Bombers

- Use skip bombers on destroyers by getting as close to the destroyer as you can. The lines shown on the sights show the points where the bombs will hit the sea on each bounce. If it's the first line, the bombs will fall straight out of the plane onto the ship so you won't miss!
If the destroyer isn't very strong with AA, you can get right up to it and drop straight on it.

- A sensible destroyer will turn into or away from your planes when he sees the skip planes approaching, so all of your bombs can't land on it. You can still land 1 bomb on him if you hit him with the middle of one of the lines. That way your approach won't be wasted. You might do some damage or knock out their engine.

- For other ships, use the skip bombers from longer range. They can do some damage and start fires on battleships (bombs should bounce just before the ship and hit the superstructure) or for ships with weak hulls like cruisers you can hit the hull and knock off damage. If the ship is moving, aim in front so that it sails into the bombs.

- The skip bombers also, when used from maximum range (the final line on the target) mean that you can hit strong AA ships or higher tier ships without losing planes. Very useful!

Soviet Torpedo planes

- Not too much to say - they fly and drop a load of torpedoes! They're devastating against all ships but your primary weapon against big ships like battleships and they can cause a lot of damage (as well as flooding).
- One big advantage of the Soviet torpedoes - their range. All Soviet torpedo planes (even tier 4) have 6km range. Like the skip bombers, this means that they can attack from a long range so don't take much damage from strong AA. Excellent!
-Due to their range you can drop them early on a target and then quickly go back for another run. Drop one lot straight on from range, then go back and hit the ship from the side, just as the first torps are arriving. No avoiding them!
- Remember you have to aim in front of a moving target. A lot if they're going at speed - the torpedoes are verrrrry slow. Again, better players will read what's happening and try to avoid them. Targets that are pinned in position for protection by an island can be good - they either eat your torpedoes or run out and get blasted by teammates. Better still if they're grounded.

Rocket Planes

- They can heavily damage lighter cruisers and set on fire battleships. Also they can penetrate decks of some battleships (not German, Soviet though, for example)

Good luck!

Enjoy!

I think Soviets CV’s are easier in some ways compared to the other nations. You don’t have to pre-drop or think about attack with each wave. And the long range torps and skip bombs help massively against tough AA ships.
