For currently obtainable free xp ships, what do people like or dislike?

Agir is OK (Play it as a HE spammer to start game and AP when broadsides appear) ... the Gronigan thing is a Friesland (so smoke and HE spam) .... Azuma ... meh(another HE kite cruiser, big guns but so over matched it dies quick if you do not have range and can kite) and the Japansese Hayate again .... Meh!! (another Hybrid type DD boat which does not excel at anything really!) - No more Alaska and Nelson which where awesome!!

Azuma is a kiter. As Revenge says, she's kinda meh. There's better options. Like Yoshino for coal. Very similar, just better.

Agir is really good imo. She's one of the top performing cruisers for that tier. She's no Siegfred though.

Hayate performs above average but I don't have her so no personal recommendations. I know she's a cross between gunboat and torpedo boat.

Groningen is a Friesland, so very good.

Azuma is kind of appealing, because I played the entire Japanese cruiser line and I like the style, of medium-long range HE spam. But I have the Atago, and the rest of the line, and yeah eventually I would like the Yoshino. I want the Azuma, but maybe like later.

Groningen has an advantage of being a real ship, that actually existed. That is a bonus for me. Also, the 1.5% fire bonus from the unique captain might be good. But idk if I’ll like the gameplay of it, maybe I will maybe not, since the guns are super weak and have poor penetration, all it’s abilities is just spamming. And I’m not the best destroyer player, which maybe getting it could help, but idk if just yet.

Ägir I think is the ship I keep looking at. I like the look of it, it looks like a super Scharnhorst. It has poor HE damage, people keep saying, however, it does have high penetration — it does “only” 3,600 some damage per shell, and will penetrate any deck in the game. Like cruisers such as Goliath are tier 10 with 12 instead of 9 guns with the same damage, and 4s faster reload, right? [Excluding fire chance] Do it has bad HE, but it isn’t even that bad it seems on paper, you’ll penetrate every shot as long as you don’t hit the turret or belt.
But I also kind of want Ägir, because I already have some of the HE spamming cruisers, I kind of want to shoot AP perhaps. I want to play something a little different.


No to Hayate because I’m poor.





Edit: also I want Groningen and it existed, but even though never constructed, there kind of is a historical aspect I guess to the O-class and Design-B65, since I guess they’re kind of “what if”s?

Azuma - is ok playable good spam at long range
Agir- you better to get Siegfried
Groningen- Friesland clone if you good at gunboat this ship may interest
Hayate- nobody asks for even exist, a bit bad it's hybrid Shimakaze and Harugumo less performance
