Tech tree skipping
So I read from some person a while ago you can skip T9 if you have enough xp for both the T9 and T10 from the T8. Is this true or will I just have to suffer through T9 like normal?

Anything on that new ship including unlocking the ship after it in the tree you can't use it for, that's where you need the free xp.

You can skip any ships you have enough xp for. You will need to research (but not buy) any necessary upgrades. Usually it's the B hull.

For example if your T9 requires 150,000 xp, but the B hull to the T8 costs 40,000, you'll need 190,000 free xp

Man, I had a feeling. Good thing Asymmetric Battles is around the corner, no sense in keeping the T8s I have maxed out and have the xp for a T9 anyways.

I worked my way through Izumo in regular grind last time the Asyms came around. That worked really well.

I'm hardly ever skipping a ship anyway. I save my free xp for research bureau resets.

I couldn't take anymore of Izumo even in Asym and just free xp the rest to Yamato. Then I got Baije will never escape that demon ship.

Izumo and Bajie are pretty good. Solid, tough ships with accurate guns.

I had the wrong opinion of those ships when I was quite new to the game, and once I got a bit better (only a bit!), I liked them.

Which mode were you playing in?

I mainly play Operations nowadays and some times randoms, and the times I play Izumo in randoms is just hella boring/infuriating. The guns feel more wonky than Amagi's and I just spend half the game sitting in one spot trying to get penetrations while the nearest german enemy cruiser pepper me with shells.

Izumo has (slightly) better dispersion and sigma than Amagi, but one less barrel so one fewer dice rolls.

It has substantially faster shells (so easier to lead distant targets) and thus a contributing factor to its much better penetration - but that, combined with the shallower angle of impact, means you're going to get more overpens if you're not taking that into account vs squishy cruisers or turtleback.

Learning the overmatch match-ups and icebreakers will help, as will better positioning.

Btw, since Wisconsin is gonna be a dockyard ship. Are there gonna be any new coal/steel ships this year, if not then I'll get R. Lauria.

I'm sure there will be. There's always ships being tested, but sometimes it's weeks, sometimes it's months till they are released.

Guess I'll just get the ship either way.

I wouldn't write off Bajie. She does have better accuracy than Izumo.
