*ducks and runs*
Looking at your Stats and they are impressive btw, Malta has the highest average damage followed by Nakhimov, and the Nakhimov has the highest avg Frags as well as the highest planes destroyed, then for Win Rate Malta is top with Audacious then Nakhimov??
Yes FDR is boring I get that but Richthofen is such a high skill level CV in the wrong hands it is a Liability!??? Rather have a Malta or Nakhimov on my shoulder!! ??
So for you Statistically the best CV you play is the Nakhkimov, then Malta & finally Richthofen!! (Best PR is Midway but I assume that is because it can hunt DD's)
Thanks!
There was a long period in MvR where I didn't play the way I do now. In addition, I played it heavily during the invincible secondary/AA update, much more than the other CVs.
Finally, just because something is better overall in most instances, or because I'm better in it than something else, doesn't necessarily require me to like it more right. I have much more fun in MvR than in any other CV. I like the speed and the challenge that comes with having to delicately time the Rockets; the challenge of having an impact with low hp planes; the hindrance of having to deal with heavy cruisers you can't citadel with rockets and are skinny enough to avoid AP bombs most of the time.
It's just more rewarding when there's a challenge. In other words, it's more fun and I can still win :)
Would maybe have been worth mentioning with regard to survivability that the Immelman (and potentially but less likely the MVR) could well be running with Lutjens as their captain which makes them very hard to CV snipe because of the heal perk that triggers on spotting. Pretty minor point though.
Useful vid anyway and I hope you get a decent amount of views.

If in ranked you might consider taking the 4 way defensive skill that buffs all defensive weapons instead, as it is far more likely "visitors" show up near your CV as there are fewer ships to stop them getting there. Condition is the CV must have a meaningful number of AA guns and secondary guns to have the skill act on in a meaningful way the first place. Some tier VIII have that but certainly all tier X and * do.
If you take the secondary module and the DC module to complement the 4 way defense capt skill you actually have a chance vs low hp DD, spotted Subs and air raids on your CV get even more costly, especially if you manage to engage O to the side of attack on top other defensive measures ( like dropping extra fighters in the way of attack )
You're giving me PTSD flashbacks, man. My Kaga WR is still negative from that time period. It legitimately traumatised me trying to grind my CV captains up to the point where I had the prerequisite base number of CO squadron survival skills.
The FDR needs ships to be stationary or crawl slowly in reverse. So they can't evade your turtle speed approach. Since the 20 sec attack timer limits how much damage you can do hitting wiith only part of your released munitions because enemies ( with forward speed ) have forever to evade will result in very poor performance.
I think the abomination was crated to bring permanent spotting into clan battles, as it is a steel ship afterall and therefore very expensive to get. The planes are tanky and can remain circling and spotting in the middle of overlapping zone FLAK fire. Fighter consumables is the only thing they don't take well, but many BB and Cruisers will be reluctant to give up their gun range extending spotter consumable. Perma-spotting may be of less use in randoms where players may not actually use that perma-spotting to maximum advantage.
The same turtle speed approach more or less handicaps RU CV as well, and their planes are flimpsy to boot, having you watch in frustration they get shot down one by one on approach, and as it only have 1 strike each shot down plane is less munitions hitting the ship.
Slow planes are unfun planes. You don't want to approach slowly on prepared and evading targets. You want to fall on them not knowing what hit them....lucky for me WG offered jets that do just that. Get some ! Yeah ! :-))
