The guns are fine and hit hard and the AA is indeed powerful - T4 cvs will struggle to get one strike if you remember to use sector reinforcement. Its even got a pretty good turning circle despite its terrible speed.
And ofc its a free premium and captain trainer if you are grinding USN BBs.

If you don't like Texas, don't expect to like any US BB until North Carolina. If you are familiar with the play style of the line from tiers III-VII, then you will do just fine.

Yeah, it was one of the first lines I played. I think that helped me to not notice quite how slow they are. It can make proper positioning very difficult. I loved the guns though.
I think USN BB's are a pretty solid starting point, very "standard." I enjoy them. Just before the line gets faster with North Carolina, it gets giant guns with Colorado. A lot of people hate Colorado, but I had a blast with that ship.
IJN are snipers, I don't find them particularly interesting or fun. Germans are though, with their brawler playstyle.
