Tips on playing the Emile Bertin
I recently started playing world of warships and have been enjoying it a lot. So far I have mostly been grinding the Japanese battleship line and the French cruiser line. I unlocked the tier V French cruiser Emile Bertin this afternoon. I have been mostly playing it like I played the other french cruisers. Dish out some damage early game with your batteries and then try to set yourself up for a torpedo strike using your good top speed. I tried the same with the Emile but have been getting stomped. So some advice on playing the ship would be greatly appreciated. I was wondering what upgrades and commander skills are best as well so an answer to that would be nice too.

I've moved the topic to Ship Tips and Opinions. I have just unlocked it myself, but haven't sussed it out yet, mainly HE spamming at the moment. Captain skill wise would run PT, AR, DE and CE for the first 10 points. I think I only have the standard 3 pointer on there at the moment. I'm no expert with the French cruisers however, so hopefully you'll get some more feedback from someone who is.

Okay thanks. I saw the ship tips and opinions tab just after I made the the post. I couldnt find a option to move the post so thanks for that. Another two questions. What upgrades do you think are the best for the ship and by HE spamming do you mean staying as far away from enemy ships while trying to get some hits and dodge their return fire?

Sorry to bump without your answer, but I don't know if you should worry about upgrades for a T5. They're very expensive to buy and demount. I only spend money on upgrades for T8 and up.

HE spam is just what it's called when you don't really use AP. Some ships have really good HE shells, or really bad AP shells, or some other factor that leads to people pretty much just ignoring their AP.

As far as your Emile Bertin, I've also only dabbled in the French cruiser line, and as such I can't really give you any good advice.

Okay thanks for the response.

Hi erter,

The French cruisers are generally good at long range in open water using their speed and agility to evade incoming fire. Would suggest mostly sticking to HE although the AP can be effective against side on cruisers at closer range.

For upgrades I would go for Main Armaments 1, Damage Control 1 (or Steering Gears 1 if your Captain doesnt have Last Stand) and Main Armaments 1.

Just dont forget to keep dodging :)

Well, if my advice matched theirs then I guess that proves we have a clue here :)

Shout if you need help in the future.

Yeah youre saying pretty much everyone else said as well. Use your speed to dodge shells and set as much things as possible on fire. But its nice to see some mods that do more than just moderating the forum. If I run in to anymore questions Ill definitely start a new thread.

Yeah. In the french line you then switch from the light to the heavy cruisers. Youll probably see me make another thread when that happens. :)
