Match Making ships two levels apart is no fun for the underdog.
I am all about having fun but being out tiered by two tiers tends to take the fun out of the match. If I take my tier 6 ship into a match and pull tier 8 ships, my weapons do little damage while my ship is destroyed by the level 8 ship. This disadvantage is very difficult to overcome. Also, level 6 carrier planes (especially dive bombers) can't even do one bomb run on a level 8 battleship without being destroyed. I think that a match making system that only matched ships of one level difference would be more fun for everyone. For example my level 6 ship could be matched with level 5 ships or with level 7 ships but not both at the same time and certainly not with level 8 ships.
While leveling, i actually like being low tier or "the underdog" since you get more XP for dealing damage to higher tier ships, and you can still do quite a lot most of the time. And it reduces the waiting times for matches.

However, right now, the CVs or rather the AA Systems are not properly balanced yet, which causes problems especially because of the 2 tier difference. And of course, despite getting more XP and credits from shooting higher tier ships, it's often more fun to be more powerful than most of the other ships instead of being less powerful, especially when playing a premium/elite ship that doesn't benefit from the additional XP unless you use real money to convert that to free XP.

But overall, if you get less streaks (i was bottom tier about 10 or 12 times in a row once, it can be really frustrating), which Wargaming is working on, and if AA/CV balance is fixed, which Wargaming is also working on, then the +2/-2 MM won't be or feel as bad.
I wholeheartedly agree. Also matches with 4 or more battleships are not much fun if your anything other than a battleship.
This has been brought up thousands of times and it is unlikely to change (although Ryuu might have other information).

The main problem is, that there are not enough lower level players to get a match straight away, it doesn't have the population of say CoD or CS:GO, so wait times will increase severely. If the game population was higher, this would probably change.

In normal ships, this is quite easy to overcome, use HE instead of AP and enjoy the extra XP and credits damaging a higher tier ship provides. It also helps improve your game play no end, it teaches you about positioning and when to push and when not to push. In CV's it's not so easy, they can't buff a tier 6 to take on a tier 8, otherwise they would be even more powerful than they are and would dominate any tier 4's or 5's they come up against. Again, this will help you improve your game play, learn to use your W and S keys to dodge flak, know which targets to go for, ie. avoid known AA ships and avoid blobs of ships etc.

Personally, my favourite is being a tier 8 against tier 10's, loads of extra XP and credits whilst still helping to win the match. It's nice to come top of the winning team above tier 10's.
I suppose I could see the XP point I suppose. However, I play to have fun, not just to level my ships up. I would prefer more even matches to quicker ship upgrades. Also I do primarily play carriers so maybe this problem is more pronounced for me than those who focus on other ship types.
Maybe those thousands of people had a point.
Yes, it will be far more pronounced as a CV. Unfortunately, unless we can increase the game population drastically, it probably won't improve.

I also play the game for fun, however at least for me, being up-tiered is fun, but totally get where you are coming from.
Some ships deal with it better than others, for example my Yorck has no problems against t9 ships as long as I’m kiting

And carriers essentially become useless

It was covered in recent Q&A btw (Sidian mentions some things from it): https://steamcommunity.com/games/552990/announcements/detail/1592499063126725979
So some adjustments may come in the future.

It's not the tier that bothers me it's the 7+km view range advantage and hp + damage that I don't like. At tier V in my cruisers, I have a 6 km torpedo range and a 13.5 km gun range, that's kind of just being cannon fodder for the tier 7 with 17+ view range. Some battleships have 22 km view range @ T7. They're firing on you before you even get close enough to spot them.
Its kinda hard to do.

Game currently picks a tier. lets say 6, and brings in ships +/-1 So Tier 5 and 7. This means the Tier 5 has to tiers up.

That's not how WoWs works. There is no "view range." Only spotting range. If they're firing at you from 20km away, that means somebody else is spotting you for them.

Regardless, I understand the OP's frustration. I hated being uptiered early on. I'm getting used to it now, but it's still a pain if you're not using a ship that you're particularly good or familiar with.

I also agree with what theGoooRooo said. Most games it feels like there's way too many battleships. It seems like a lot of inexperienced players flock to them thinking that the big cannons and thick armor will lead to success. What we end up with though is most of our "tanks" hiding in the back with the CV's, missing the majority of their shots, and generally contributing almost nothing to the team's victory.

Part of my feelings on this is because I consider myself a cruiser-main, but I've played a lot as BB's too. I know it's easy to overextend, I know torpedoes are a huge threat, I know you can do a lot of damage from max-range if you know what you're doing. The problem is that most matches are around 50% BB and usually 2 or 3 of them obviously don't have the slightest clue what they're doing. There's a huge difference in being conservative and staying on the back edge of the map.

The little dogs can't pull out their little ♥♥♥♥♥ and wade in with the big boys. They have to group up with the bulldogs and german shepherds, and get in their little bites when they can.

To expect to rake as a ship two tiers lower is silly.

2 tiers difference does not work in World of Tanks and it does not work here. You are just free xp for the big boys. Once you reach T5 your progress gets slowed down fast as you constantly get put into battles you have no impact on. Especially bad when you just reseached a ship, have no upgrades for it and then fight 2 tiers higher. Just a waste of time.

Nah, unlike WoT at least you can always sink a ship of any tier and any class, that's what i really like.
Pz I C can't do any damage to KV-1 though when they get matched together.
