However, right now, the CVs or rather the AA Systems are not properly balanced yet, which causes problems especially because of the 2 tier difference. And of course, despite getting more XP and credits from shooting higher tier ships, it's often more fun to be more powerful than most of the other ships instead of being less powerful, especially when playing a premium/elite ship that doesn't benefit from the additional XP unless you use real money to convert that to free XP.
But overall, if you get less streaks (i was bottom tier about 10 or 12 times in a row once, it can be really frustrating), which Wargaming is working on, and if AA/CV balance is fixed, which Wargaming is also working on, then the +2/-2 MM won't be or feel as bad.
The main problem is, that there are not enough lower level players to get a match straight away, it doesn't have the population of say CoD or CS:GO, so wait times will increase severely. If the game population was higher, this would probably change.
In normal ships, this is quite easy to overcome, use HE instead of AP and enjoy the extra XP and credits damaging a higher tier ship provides. It also helps improve your game play no end, it teaches you about positioning and when to push and when not to push. In CV's it's not so easy, they can't buff a tier 6 to take on a tier 8, otherwise they would be even more powerful than they are and would dominate any tier 4's or 5's they come up against. Again, this will help you improve your game play, learn to use your W and S keys to dodge flak, know which targets to go for, ie. avoid known AA ships and avoid blobs of ships etc.
Personally, my favourite is being a tier 8 against tier 10's, loads of extra XP and credits whilst still helping to win the match. It's nice to come top of the winning team above tier 10's.
I also play the game for fun, however at least for me, being up-tiered is fun, but totally get where you are coming from.
And carriers essentially become useless
So some adjustments may come in the future.
Game currently picks a tier. lets say 6, and brings in ships +/-1 So Tier 5 and 7. This means the Tier 5 has to tiers up.
That's not how WoWs works. There is no "view range." Only spotting range. If they're firing at you from 20km away, that means somebody else is spotting you for them.
Regardless, I understand the OP's frustration. I hated being uptiered early on. I'm getting used to it now, but it's still a pain if you're not using a ship that you're particularly good or familiar with.
I also agree with what theGoooRooo said. Most games it feels like there's way too many battleships. It seems like a lot of inexperienced players flock to them thinking that the big cannons and thick armor will lead to success. What we end up with though is most of our "tanks" hiding in the back with the CV's, missing the majority of their shots, and generally contributing almost nothing to the team's victory.
Part of my feelings on this is because I consider myself a cruiser-main, but I've played a lot as BB's too. I know it's easy to overextend, I know torpedoes are a huge threat, I know you can do a lot of damage from max-range if you know what you're doing. The problem is that most matches are around 50% BB and usually 2 or 3 of them obviously don't have the slightest clue what they're doing. There's a huge difference in being conservative and staying on the back edge of the map.
To expect to rake as a ship two tiers lower is silly.
Pz I C can't do any damage to KV-1 though when they get matched together.
