Ship stuck on edge of map?

I hit the edge of the map when i was turning my bb, and i got stuck there for like 90% of the match and couldnt move and then we lost. wtf?

You lose 75% of your power if you hit the edge. If you hit it wrong, that can mess you up pretty badly. They put that effect in because people were camping the sides sliding down them. Too few people could learn to hit players doing that and it was kinda toxic so Wargaming decided to cut power as a deterrent.

You lose something like 75% of your engine power when on the border which can mean that in a slow ship it can take ages to free yourself. Sadly this mechanic had to be introduced due to people abusing surfing on the border to avoid fire. This still works (and automatic secondarys in particular struggle against people on the map edge) but the reduced speed takes away a lot of the advantage.

Depending on the angle at which you hit the border and whether it's safe to turn (broadside), it may well be a better idea to go full speed ahead and just turn until you clear the map border than trying to reverse off of it.

Yeah, the worst thing to do on the edge is to reverse, takes ages with reduced engine power, even for smaller vessels.
