Performing first time setup every time...
Why does this happen? In other games, it's some bug with the redistributables installers and their VDF files. Deleting them solves it, but I can't find any such files in World of Warships' folder, and the thing keeps happening every single time I launch the game.

Feedback appreciated.

PS: It's a blank "Installing: (1 of 1)" setup, which goes on for 15 seconds or so.

I suppose that works.

In means some of those redistributables are either corrupted or not correctly installed so each time they report that they need installation.

The game's prerequisites are:
DirectX June 2010
Visual C++ Redist 2015 (2019 supersedes it, so it's fine if you have it installed instead)
Visual C++ Redist 2012
.NET 4.7.2

For both Visual C++ both 32-bit and 64-bit should be installed.

You can find them in \steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\
And try reinstalling manually and see if there are any errors (because Steam shell swallows any errors silently).

The only one with errors in the Repair/Remove process is .NET 4.7.2 (unrecoverable error). May have something to do with this being an upgraded PC from Win7 to Win10 The game still works just fine and all, but I can't seem to get rid of that first time setup thing.

In worst cases like this i have deleted the mentions of damaged component from Windows registry (regedit.exe) and then installed again.
It's a bit tricky and dangerous, so at least make a backup of registry entries that you're deleting first. But generally this have helped me in similar cases.

Sorry, don't know how to do the trick with vdf-file. But i've seen it in the game's folder sometimes, seems only when i had a similar problem with first-time setup launching each time. Try searching when it's running.

BTW can't you just cancel it each time? Not ideal but that has worked for me too, so i didn't have to wait.

I'll see if there's anything I can do registry-wise.

And I can't cancel it because doing so cancels the game's launch procedure.

Well, it goes deeper, seems you need to reinstall/somehow deal with:
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile ESN Language Pack
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 (ESN)
and then Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 (ESN)

The log points at further log-files, but not sure they'll help. Try launching reinstall for those two top entries first.

Okay, I found a workaround. When the first setup is running, the file runasadmin.vdf appears in World of Warships' root folder. What I improvised is deleting the content while leaving the file in a read-only state. As a result, the first setup tries to run but is quickly skipped.

I suppose that works.

Nice trick :) At least it's safer than messing with registry.
