Syncing forever.
i just installed wow on steam. now when i launch and after i have selected region. it asks me to select a username. i do that and when i press connect it just keeps syncing. wont load in just sync. longest i waited was 20 min i went to do other stuff came back and still syncing. what i have done is "verify integrity of game files" then i also deleted preference xml or something like that. so far nothing has helped. i have stable internet connection and my pc is somewhat highend.
plz help i wanna blow some ships up and dont wanna download the client seperate.

Please contact Player Support: https://wargaming.net/support/products/wows/help/

BTW long wait would not help, if it haven't loaded in <= 1 minute — all you can do is restart or try again later. Maybe also fiddle with your network, like reboot router, maybe even PC. Some users thought they have stable connection too and it ended up not being the case. Btw look here if you want to check your network: https://steamcommunity.com/app/552990/discussions/1/1744469130481716667/
or Support should help you with that.

Apologies for inconvenience but that problem is quite rare and elusive, no universal solution yet. The game's fault currently is only that it sits on that screen forever, without timing-out and telling the user that there's some kind of network problem.

Also Valve's servers were a bit unstable today, so i'd recommend trying again a couple of times first.

Well, let's hope it was a temporary problem and would never return :)

I don't get what you mean, you have standalone client installed as well? Well, it couldn't affect Steam version, at least very unlikely.

But next time that happens you can try logging through native client instead, BTW please inform me how it goes, might be valuable info.

well my quess would be that the steam client was not able to connect/sync with the server but when i open the standalone launcher it made the connection. or it could have just been issues with steam servers no other logical explanation imo.

I don't think so, but if it happens again — please post what you had to do to resolve it :)

Hmm I'm having the same problem. I had the steam version installed for a while now. I attempted to launch the game and when I reach the loading screen it says my username has been taken. I entered a new username and it synchronize forever. Funny thing is I've only played the steam version so my name shouldn't be taken. Unable to load the game past the synchronizing screen. Tried relaunching the game several times and remains the same.

A friend and I have the exact same issue. We just booted up the game to see that we are not logged in and cannot log in. Asking us to create a nickname...

Is it still happening? Steam was a bit wonky this night for me, could be connected.
Those issues are temporary and short-lived, also they can't cause you to lose an account or something. The real problem is that they're on Valve's side as far as i know, but at least they're pretty rare.

rare or not still something to investigate. more time passes by the more problems like that occur.

It might be a issue with connectivity with steam and WoWs at specific time. I attempted to connect at around 8 and the issue occur. Later I attempted to connect around midnight and the issue resolved itself. So maybe it might be a traffic issue, something to do with WoWs unable to synch within reasonable time, or possibly not synchronizing at all. If this occur again, someone could test by leaving the synchronizing screen running for an hour to test and clarify the issue some more.

No, no need to do that. That's a thing we're going to fix, this screen should inform the user about timing out problem. It won't and can't fix the underlying problem but at least would be more informative and maybe would help tracing it down.

TL;DR: if you see "synchronizing" screen for more than 30 seconds — the best thing you can do is restart or close and try a bit later.

Well, it's about a year later, give or take a few weeks. I just installed the game on steam, and first time loading the game I hit this issue as well. Guess "you" did not add a timeout notification to your code just yet eh?

So how about documenting (or giving a url to) steps for remediation or some "server status" page.

This unending "synchronizing..." swirly is a bad first impression to leave unaddressed.

I'm just on my 2nd attempt in an hour, still going down search results on other solutions and commentaries.

Ran into this problem myself tonight, thankfully WoWs logged in successfully after about half an hour, restarted steam multiple times and PC. Unsure if that had any effect.
