Should a new player be rushing Tier V for festive tokens?
Just found out that you can only earn tokens once per ship, the anniversary doesn't seem to be that new player friendly.

No use the protected Match making to learn the game, then aim to build up an Armada for Christmas or Next year!!

You would need to play this game for multiple thousand hours or $ to get anything substantial out of it.
A TX ship very likely will give 25k freeXP or 25 flags etc. So don´t worry to much about it.

I cant even get on a sever, they are overloaded.

The Anniversary Event along with the Christmas event is really aimed at players who have many many many ships 100+ say to reward them for having all these ships!

"Newish" players get plenty of bonuses and rewards once you get your first tier 5 and start doing the missions, but you want to at least have a good grasp of how the game works & plays or when you get to tier 5 and leave Protected Match making you will get totally smashed and fall out with the game quickly!!

But that said I still think people with less that 150 Hours are new to the game!! :wowshmm:

Good Luck!

WG is not new player friendly in the events, they haven't been.
It is better to take your time and learn the ships and game so when you finaly do have enough ships to do well in a birthday, christmas etc event you have a good foundation and a better chance of enjoying the event battles.

Unfortunately yes, they don’t put a lot of attention into tier 1-4, despite pre-WW1/WW1 era ships there being cool. Tier 5+ is where all the missions and rewards are.

Think of tiers 1 to 4 as training levels so new players can learn how to fight their ships. Do not rush through these levels and please please DO NOT buy Premium ships thinking it will make you a better player.

30 tokens won't getting you anything good anyway.

IGNORE the "token events". You will NEVER acquire enough to buy anything substantial, by design. Any other awards, tokens, random currencies, etc will be picked up just by playing, no focus is usually needed to pick up one or two of the low end items.

This is wargaming. They NEVER give you anything without a catch. If they tell you its good for you, its likely the worst idea they've had for that particular month. Dont stress over the shiny trinkets WOWS dangles on the weekly. Its all a scam to get your money. and theres nothing in the game thats worth a fraction of what they demand.

Festive Token Events happen every year so, don't fret it, there's always next year.

Unless of course when the tokens you can earn for free allow you to get a tier X ship (Brisbane). Or a tier IX ship (Jäger). Or if you have enough ships in port a tier VIII ship (Bayard). Or...

You're not all wrong, there's definitely events that need to you to buy things for the substantial rewards. But there's also plenty where you don't have to.

Yep some events are little more than cash grabs, but this isn't
A LOT of players will get the free t8, I'm not even 20% thru my ships and have close to 5k festive , although the remaining 80% will prob only give the same again as the rewards for t5-7 seem pretty low compared to 200 for a t10

I only have 180 ish ships this account , many many players have 300-400+

Even these events depend on how much time you have to play them.

Yes they require work, if it's too grindy you don't have to.
But a lot of times it's not skill intensive, you just have to do it.
A lot of people write support complaining when they get free stuff they don't want.
And I do believe things should be earned.
