Vacant ship slot question
I have been playing various ships in the tech tree to see which one(s) I like and i noticed that atm I only have 6 vacant ship slots left. Can more slots be added or will I have to sell some ships to make some room if needed. And if that's the case I'm assuming to start of selling tier 1 followed by 2, etc. It would be a shame to sell any of them given the grind it took to get them in the first place

When you begin slots can be limited, you usually get one in the free battle pass
There can be other ways of gaining them
I'd sell ships below tier 5 to begin with (Sometimes you get them during events and stuff) They usually can't do quests.
It's not really worth it to buy more as you end up getting more as time goes on.
I have probably well over 100 vacant slots but I do remember them being limited at the very start.
Also don't sell premium or special ships, just tech tree ones

The battle pass each major patch cycle slowly drip feeds you extra slots.
Ships acquired via Coal, Steel, and Research Points come with slots.
You can buy extra slots for doubloons.

I personally sell anything that isn't a premium ship that exists below T5 once I've gotten past it. Because the majority of quests do not count ships in those tiers as valid for progress. Nor do they contribute to flake events the way ships at T5+ do.

Dont forget that T1s are free to rebuy and T2-3s are incredibly cheap once you have been playing for a while so its easy enough to get them back if you really want to. Dont forget to keep the captains though - it tends to be a good idea to move them to the next ship you buy so you keep their skill points. Once again you have limited space for captains at the start so you can buy new ships without a captain and just move the one from the previous ship into it. You will ofc have to retrain them but thats easy enough for low level captains.

You CAN buy more slots in the port (should be on the right of your ship carousel) if you run out of them and want to keep all the ships you have. But it's more a last resort thing, usually. Most of the time, you're better of selling ships below tier V that you don't like nor need anymore for grinding any tech tree lines.
