But yeah, cruisers have a ton of variety to them (CLs like Cleveland can play a fair bit differently to even similar (island-camping) CAs like Baltimore; which both play very differently to superlight smoke-farmers like the Jinan line, or acceleration jukers like Colbert; which play differently again to superheavies like Agir / Alaska / whatever).
I've been playing a disproportionate amount of heavy cruisers recently, just because the combination of brutal AP and good DPM has been suiting the games I've been playing more than the extra tankiness of Battleships has been needed.
Subs, CVs, and DDs are the classes I play least (in that order):
CVs are in a weird place where there's a midpoint between them feeling unfair against people who can't really do much about them apart from get dunked on, but also feeling a bit frustrating to play if teammates are just throwing faster than you can counterplay the enemy.
The sub meta-game's a bit two-dimensional, which is kinda funny given that - even including CV squadrons - they're the one ship that actually plays at several different depths. Sub surveillance on a few cruisers helps evolve the match-ups out a bit though.
With both subs and CVs, the constant tinkering and prospect of reworks hasn't really sold me on wanting to hard-commit to them. Subs especially feel incomplete and like they're going to get changed as soon as WG can ship the CV rework.
DDs massive battle impact puts a ton of pressure on them to hard solo-carry, which - like with CVs - can involve a bit more frustration if teammates aren't making use of the advantages you generate, or even worse if they get salty because they don't understand just how heavily you're carrying their mistakes.
Really I tend to feel a bit uncomfortable playing powerful ships in general - my "most played ships" list is a menu of masochism. FDG (pre-buff for pretty much all of the battles, too!); Gascogne; Roma - and a fair few others that are considered to be a bit limp or that have subsequently been buffed.
With older ships... It really depends on my mood a bit. But there's always time for a Bourgogne, for example.
I also enjoy the Cheshire and maybe soon the Gibraltar.
Man the two times I took out my Chikuma II I got blasted hard. Respect.
For me right now I think I am digging the chappy. Or the hoffman.
The Yamato is my favorite period. I just like firing from so far away I barely go a spot on you before I lead the shot. I wasn't even a fan of Japanese ships and now I'm like talking to people on just how superior Japanese torpedo's were to everyone elses.
But that guy who mentioned when things click.
God that feels so good in WoW. When destroyers clicked for me it was an actual serotonin dump. 5 matches in a row of getting slugged then BAM Ooooo..
Worcester's a solid island-camping light cruiser. Great HE DPM and fire chance; great AA; good radar.
Yorktown's solid, the tactical squadrons are a bit forgiving for inexperienced players; deploying the smokescreens in a way that helps rather than hurts teammates requires a bit of game knowledge - but will be a while before you get that far along. The fighters can't spot very well, though, so requires a bit more awareness of the vision-game - not that it'll matter if / when the class rework lands.
Enterprise is a super-rare premium. It's hidden behind Xmas lootbox gambling; and although there was fairly recently a limited time event to get it again, it's not likely that it'll come back again any time soon.
my favourites so far are DM, vermont and marseille
Recently got the Tulsa but lack the credits to build it...
A little detail I love: They have a small cage infront of the guns to catch the empty shells.
FDR the bombs are amazing they can ruin any ship in no time I would tell you more but I'm afraid WG would nerf It, torps come in second Gato one of the best subs, I smile a lot using this ship second
Is Balao. Akizuki, kitakaze, haruggumo, they are all fun and easy to grind research points In operations. Zao fun ship super high torp damage amazing accuracy when they hit. Stalingrad and amazing ship and accurate guns thinks Its a bb.Petropavovsk Its fun also .Kremlin strikes fear and breaks everything you will be lucky to survive one on one, not a bb its a tank really. German ships Tirpitz fun ship I like It even more than Bismarck,

Thrasher fun sub can stay under water forever and great sub killer Its a lot of fun If your worried about air. St Vincent I really enjoy this ship has high damage torps great speed and very maneuverable And I like the thunderer It was a classic should not have been messed with I hate they messed with It, I wish WG would have left this ship alone nerfing after years In service and now we have stronger ships now, I still enjoy It but disappointed maybe some day It will be Its former self. Last ship to mention Is tier 9 Puolo Emilio Its a lot of fun using In certain modes ,I made over 525,000,000 million credits with this ship In a very short time no other ship has made me more credits like this In less than three weeks.
