Christmas Event passes are straight Cash Grabs this year Do not buy them
In years past the Event passes and Christmas passes have been 2500 Gold to purchase. Offering reasonably obtainable and very worth it maximum rewards. You could even miss a few days and still reach max rewards. This year however the devs increased the price of passes. Hell even for Christmas they split the pass up into so far 2 21 day passes for 3500 Gold. Shorter than normal passes and expensive. One would think that it being Christmas time and all the 3500 spent on pass 1 would carry over to pass 2 since the pass was shortened in time. Come to find out it doesn't. The coal and steel rewards are nice, but the ships and other rewards are horrible. You only get rare economic boosters and still no unique boosters which seem to have vanished from the passes over the past year. To achieve lvl 24 rewards you need 995 points with the maximum amount of points one can earn is 1095. That is logging in every day and getting all of the challenges done. Miss 2 days and you are SOL. Log in every day and earn max rewards nets you 2 of the "Unlimited tier 25" rewards. Which means after 2 passes you could only afford 1 of the mega containers 7000 gold for 2 meager passes is pure BS. As someone who has bought these passes in the past I really though it wouldn't be a cash grab since it is Christmas time, sadly I was wrong. I will not be buying another pass in the future.

2nd Progression Line Cost Bullcrap
So normal months is only 2k, but dec is 7k

I was typing up the same thing. I genuinely thought that spending the 3500 would carry over into chapter 2. The max obtainable points is 1095 with Tier 24 being 995 to get through. You can't miss 1 day of playing to get all 24 levels and can only do the unlimited 25 twice. Last years pass was awesome, affordable and 100% worth the 2500 gold. This year is 100% a cash grab scam. It is the Christmas season and they just wanted to screw their player base out of money. The tier 7 ship isn't worth it from season 1 and I sure as hell am not buying this second one.

Who said anything about expecting a free T7? I said it was trash and not worth 3500 doubloons. The ship and final rewards are the big draw, they are charging more and giving less is the point of it.
Hiei Dec 18, 2024 @ 12:21pm
You don't have to pay for the second one if you don't want?
Scam means you're being tricked into something.

Fact of the matter is you'd be at the end of the first pass and waiting for next month, you're pretty much getting double the goodies, if it's not worth to you, don't pay for the premium part.

The scam is a 21 day pass instead of 45 days, implying part 1 of 2 means that technically you should get part 2 when buying the higher price for part 1. There was no posting that stated that you had to buy them separate. That combined with the "premium" ship they give you. It is also in part that you are paying 3500 doubloons once for something that should be 1500 and they charge you 7000 in total. There is nothing I could find that stated outright that you had to buy both passes separately, the way it is presented is that there was just going to be another chapter not another pass. They should be more clear in their postings. The part that is normally worth it is the repeating end tier, you can only do it twice after both passes you can only buy 1 of the big containers. Which in previous passes you didnt have to log on 21 out of 21 days to reach. So if you dont pre do all the math you dont know what your buying. Overall not only myself but a few of my buddies all bought the pass based off of how last years went, this one was a rug pull money grab, whereas last years was an appreciation for the players.

Cheapest T7 in the armory is 6,800 doubs; ~5k with 25% discount coupon.

3,500 is less than 5k...

20x regular Santa Crates costs 4,500 doubs. There's 30 in the battlepass.
3,500 is less than 6,880...

The battle pass should be priced at well over 12,000 doubloons for the first stage alone, before you consider all the bonus stuff like steel, etc.

If you, personally, really hate great value for money - you can just not buy the battlepass.

If you feel like you tricked yourself into buying the battlepass because previous battlepasses were giving away premiums even cheaper, well congratulations you've just discovered why you shouldn't've had those bargains in previous battlepasses in the first place (humouring you that your sums are correct - which we have no reason to believe is the case) - they were way too generous.

Merged these two threads since they are basically identical.

Also have to say that "scam" implies you are being tricked into something. The reward track is completely transparent as are the duration and cost. By definition this is not a scam.

Also have to say that just because the two parts are shorter than a "normal" BP, the rewards arent so different (but gained in less time) and as others have mentioned above are still pretty decent if you actually want the stuff on offer. If you dont then just get the free stuff from the top reward track.

Yeah it's only decent value, at least the ships in the second line are pretty good. You're basically paying 3500 for a premium ship plus some extra loot boxes to promote gambling.

Last year's Christmas eventpass was actually 3'500 doubloons. And actually gave about the same rewards as one of the two parts this year gives. So you can't even justifiably complain about them being bad when you point out the past ones as good.

Only if you deliberately decide to not read a single one of the numerous messages and articles that WG has written about that.
So not getting this right is on YOU and YOU ALONE. No one else. YOU did a major stupid and now you're running to the forums here to whine-whine-whine instead of accepting responsibility for your own actions.

Challenges that are ridiculously easy, far below anything you had to do in past Christmas events. Even last year's which already was really easy to finish. It honestly takes a whole 2-3 Random or 3-4 Coop battles to do all daily missions for the eventpass. That's about half an hour of playing, no more.
NEVER MIND that the thing with not playing daily meaning you may lose out on all/the best rewards is NOTHING NEW AT ALL and has been a thing for every single pass since they were implemented in the game. And were even more of a thing back before the passes with the daily missions.

NEVER MIND that for this to be a "scam" would necessitate WG lying about the whole thing or withholding necessary information. Which they have done the EXACT OPPOSITE of. Or them blowing up the price massively and curbing the rewards. Which again they have NOT done. Both parts this year individually hold about the same rewards as last year's full pass did. And they are doing so at individually the same price.

The ONLY thing you got right in your whole several walls of text there is that it is a cash grab. Doing two passes in one update and thus selling two second reward lines obviously is. But it is a cash grab that, compared to their prior passes and just what you'd usually pay for the contents of these ones, gives very decent and fair payout for the customer.

Iv never seen someone ride a cash grabbing company's junk as hard as War Thunder Players but here we are. I never spent a dime and never said I did. I used my free doubloons, this is more of a cautionary all be it complaining post. People might just dive into buying a pass because it is available. Last years pass was more giving in the Large container rewards and longer. Yet said pass also did not require you to play every day to complete it. It was also as you said as well not split into 2. Cash grabs are scams in and of themselves praying on unsuspecting players who don't know better. By the formatting 2 of my other buddies thought the exact same thing as me in regards to splitting it into 2 passes for 3500 when the very last pass was 2500. I did not claim they were lying, but they need to be more transparent in their information because I could not find any yes or no on if the pass would count for both chapters. Had that been clear I would not have bought the pass, neither would my friends have. The amount of play points and minimum days participating for completion should be clear to people. To your point it is easy to get the rewards but all the other battle passes allow you to miss a few days and still get your moneys worth. Not every person has the time to play games every day and with these passes. If you don't have that time every single day and buy the pass thinking it is doable like normal without transparency from the company, its more of a rug pull. So scam might not be the right word that I used in frustration. However lack of transparency, switching up the normal format and making it into a cash grab, sure as hell feels like one.

You're pretty wrong on purpose or you're doing this for fun.

Simply put you can read the news or the dev blog.
It very clearly showed it was ending (Which the first stage game out plenty of containers, resources and Steel,) It Clearly said it was ending on a certain day, there were about 3 days of just bonus rewards (Extra certificates)
Then the news explained there was a second set (Pretty obvious since the first one ended)
It told what the second set would be.

Also still a free ship in the dock yard.
Heck I already got one of the event steel ships and it looks like I'll get enough steel to get a second one from the dock yard
(Also one of the santa boxes that were free from certs, for the last few days on stage 1) gave off a steel ship too

Scamming implies they lied to you.

Sure maybe more heads up would have been nice but you also can't really say scam when it full stop says How long it will last, if there was - timers, I'd totally be on your side.
