CV rework?
did they just give up on this? it's been like four months since i heard anything about it.
i took a few days break from the game, came back, had a CV flying around my DD without me being able to do anything about it. enemy team deleted me before i could even turn around. much fun, such balance.

Oh wow, so I'm supposed to take ONE person's profile (who may or may not actually be someone you play with) as the norm instead as the exception? Very persuasive argument! Oh wait, it's not.

a Simple look at my many many Screen shots will show you who I am and who I play with....

have fun again looking quite a little .... sad!

night!

Then Take a Bigger Hint, Post your Server region + IGN with your last 5-10 Sub game replays using Wow replays and maybe, just maybe someone here can help or knows someone who can help!

Seriously take attitude away, makes you look super silly!!!

*EDIT
Please make sure your profile is public!

I forgot ... as I am downloading Rocket League! haha

Also post CV games and maybe people here may or may not want to see how the rework will affect your awesome states!
night Pal!

Credit where credit is due. I corrected my accidental "Hydrophone" for the ship consumable.

Also currently downloading the client for the CV test. Maybe I'll see some of you there.

From what ive seen the "solutions" that have been tried so far have mitigated some problems and caused a load of others. Maybe someone who actually plays on the test server can provide more helpful info :)

This may be necro, but how will this planned rework change carrier gameplay? Will they still be viable or not?

Leo님이 먼저 게시:
Current plan for CV rework is a complete buff to carriers, It adds an travel at high altitude option for aircraft that make them immune to AA, when launching a strike only the strike planes go down to AA altitude, flak is removed, DFAA capable ships get a new option to reduce torpedo damage.

If this change goes ahead, it will definitely change gameplay and I think it will take a month or 2 for the playerbase to figure out the new playstyles for both CV and counter CV play.

CV "main" (I play everything but mostly CV these days) and played on the initial test. Besides the memes about every CV turning into glorified super-Harugumos because of manual guns which will almost certainly be nerfed into the ground... (hopefully)...

What Leo lists here is accurate, but its important to note this is NOT a complete buff. Travel time for CV planes, or at least players who understand how to play, is a solved problem for all but the ones with the slowest travel times. This will shave off enough time for attacks to be more rapid, but probably not as much as you're thinking. Uptime for engine boost is probably like, half your flight time for the longest treks and it boosts speed around 20% (quick look ingame). Shorter treks you can usually use most of your engine boost to get to location so you're at max speed anyway. All total, I conservatively estimate this will probably decrease travel time by about 10% for the most efficient CV players. For the dumber ones or CV with slower planes this will be more, for CV with extremely fast planes and long engine boost this will be less. Its more unifying CV specs than anything else.

As for being immune to AA when up high, I agree that's more problematic. My main problem with this is it eliminates the "screening" ability that teams have versus plane strikes to the rear. CVs in current meta if they want to strike something in the rear either A) have to fly all the way around the AA via map edge or narrow openings which is time consuming and needs to take advantage of battlefield conditions, or B) fly through it, which is costly in terms of planes, and even for skilled players; for potatoes it just gets them deplaned. In both cases it eats up battle time, which is important here. Keep in mind the screen is also important to incentivize players to attack the most important targets in the front (spotting players, players capping, players overextending or pushing, etc.). Managing enemy team's screen and being able to punish openings in it is a defining ability to being a good CV. Conversely, a team maintaining a good screen on the frontline is very good defense. Take out the importance of screen and... uh, what the ***?

Only strike planes going down to AA is arguably a massive buff to AA in general. In test I built the tankiest planes available (audacious) for HP and I actually could barely even get 1 plane from a strike group on a lone montana. That's a 50-66% reduction in the CV's ability to do damage. That's taking the nerf hammer a bit far, IMO.

Not mentioned here is that CV attack times with the altitude adjusting from travel to attack time basically increase the preparation time by like 100-200%. In test they had the most infamously un-agile ship in the game, Grosser Kurfurst, and this was enough time for even THAT thing to turn out versus plane attacks going 220 knots. Distance wise this is also a nerf, as the altitude animation also makes attack setup much more laborious, where some attacks have to start from at least a 1/4 of the entire map away. With all that distance that means many more AA bubbles you're forced to travel through. In current system you approach, drop, turn, drop, turn, etc.. In new system you approach, descend, drop, travel out & return to altitude, turn, approach, descend, drop, travel out & return to altitude, etc.. If each of these steps takes time, added steps naturally decreases DPM.

So from what I actually experienced in test, functionally fewer strikes per minute + reduced power per strike from AA loss = radically reduced functional performance. Now take this with a grain of salt, everybody was building for AA vs CV building for plane HP and speed. I also only played Audacious, which is the least powerful of the T10 CVs that were in test. And this was an early test. But you asked for tester feedback so this is what I experienced from the CV side of things. Personally I'm not pleased with them.

What I predict from these changes actually is a massive increase in CV vs CV play, simply because less travel time + being able to fly over enemy team AA means that we can just directly snipe without any consequences. Which will probably be funny, but whoever wins these contests will also win their team the game in most cases, which hmmm... sounds awfully like the RTS CV days... HMMM.... :steamfacepalm:

I would recommend against buying a premium CV until the rework, because you may find the change in playstyle could be very unfun compared to how it previously worked.

I'm mostly asking because I don't want to waste coal or steel on a ship class that might get weakened too much. I guess I'll just hoard them a little longer then.

Think of it this way, if you want to try these ships before the rework, now is your last chance before they get changed dramatically. And the rework will definitely take longer to implement than you think it will, I'd be very surprised if it dropped this year.

Spot on. CVs are dreadfully unrewarding and frustrating to play now as the attack times/reticles are terrible. Flak not being there wasn't a bonus to CVs... The magic do a % of damage to planes button, lack of self spotting, and just wicked AA application make finding anything near impossible. When you do, your flight is more often than not 100% destroyed before even getting to green...

There has been no change on that for the test though. Those haven't really been touched ever since the rocket plane changes about... two years ago?
