To Clan or not to Clan?
Good morning Captains everywhere,
I have noticed, in playing, that there are a great number of players that are not in Clans. Everyone I talk to about it asks the same question, "What does being in a Clan mean?"

I assume that it's something not many consider and that there is a general lack of knowledge about where to find information about Clan Membership, accordingly I have drafted this "In a nutshell" presentation about Clans and Clan Membership benefits.

Players can join a clan at no cost - however, they must apply or be invited.
Though there is no requirement to be in a clan, membership carries benefits. Besides allowing for faster communication through the clan-chat interface, members benefit from in-game perks provided by developing structures within the clan's Naval Base. These structures are built using Oil.
Oil, is a clan-specific resource earned by members for simply playing the game. Additionally, membership in a clan allows for players to partake in the Clan Battles game mode.
Clan benefits
For most players, the primary attraction of a clan is the benefits that its members gain from development of the clan's naval base. As the naval base grows, there are increasing bonuses to member experience and earned resources, and discounts on ships.
A less widely used but no less important benefit is the ability to participate in Clan Battles.

Joining a Clan
Find the clan to join. One method is to explore the Clan Recruitment area of the forum. Another is to explore clans through the game client.
While on the clan's Naval Base page, navigate to "Clan Search."
Use the search bar and Recommendations to find a clan to join.

Clan – Joining
Clicking a clan entry the clan opens its naval base and member list.
After inspecting the clan, click "Join Clan" to send an application.

Confirm sending your application.
To view the application status, click "My Applications" on the Naval Base page. The application will appear with a status on the right side. A letter icon means that the clan's commander has yet to make a decision. An 'X' means the application was rejected or expired. A check mark means the application was accepted.
Note: That a player account must have achieved Access Level 17 before applying to join a clan. However, a player account of any level can be Invited and accept an invitation from a clan.

Inviting a player to a clan
Players can be invited across regions, and without regard to their access level.
Locate the player using the Chat Interface (orange icon lower left corner of the Port screen).
<right-click> on the player line and select 'Invite to Clan'.
The invitation is entered on your clan's Requests page, pending his acceptance.
The invitation is entered on his Requests page, asking for their acceptance.
Note: Invitations do time out.
If the player accepts, they is inducted immediately and no further action is required, except perhaps an introduction.

Managing the Clan's Description, Name, Tag, and Rules
While on the clan's Naval Base page, navigate to the clan's name with the banner next to it.
Click on the clan's name with the banner next to it. A pop-down menu will appear with multiple management options. Choose the desired option to edit the parameter.
A Description can be added or changed at any time.
Clan resources
Oil
Oil is accumulated (into the clan's storage tanks) by clan members as they obtain containers (and play Clan Battles). Oil is expended by clan leadership to construct buildings in the naval base that provide bonuses to members. (See the Naval Base article for details.)

Now, having said all that, Clan [TIMAT] SeaEagle is seeking members to help develop the Naval Base and share in the benefits and rewards it brings. Come find us or leave a reply here with your "World of Warships" player name and we will issue an invite, if you're interested in joining a relaxed, no pressure, no demands Clan.

Cheers,
Ty
(WoW Recruiting Officer [TIMAT] SeaEagle)

P.S. No, I haven't signed up for the Spring Recruiting Event... I'm NOT chasing prizes here.

My advise: Join a clan, - a chill clan ASAP it might have you earn more silver than loose. Important early on when trying builds, selling ships etc.

Logically, no, its barely a commitment. You're right. Emotionally im still mad about clan battles so thats where im coming from.
Why would clan battles bother you? I'm confused on that one. If it's not fun, don't do it. What am I missing?

I am guessing the bit about "Meta" ships is what I took as being an issue, most likely the chap has a poor selection of Tier 10's and well yeah that can be an issue when building a team for Clan Battles? Then of course you get the arguments of "But I wanna play a Minotaur" when really you know they cannot hence the silences and awkward moments!?? Just a Thought!!

But yeah you can just join a clan who do not do CB's!

It would not be such a bad thing to be in a clan but most clans are full of nutjobs or man-children.

Are those two words a major part of your vocabulary?

Do you need a job?

No I have two.
But you've done two posts where all you said is "Nut jobs and man children" Which really suggests that you're toxic and don't know very many words.

LOLOLOL... now, now Captains... I can assure you, sincerely, Clan [TIMAT] SeaEagle is not one of those. We do interact on a regular basis and I would know if we had any. No, I can promise anyone whom chooses our Clan will find reasonable players with a friendly rapport. As I believe I mentioned, we don't mess with, or cramp, eachother's style we just play. Supportive and humorous comments "in game" included free...! :D

Cheers,
T.

Mawwwwwning Captains, how are we all today?

Thank you Hiei, as I mentioned, my brother M and I discussed the whole thing at some length before we decided to create the Clan and when we did we decided to make it a welcoming place for people to, as our motto says, "Be laid back".

This game is the best multiplayer I've experienced in a long time (and you're looking at a person who cut his gaming teeth on an Amstrad 1512 5-1/2" floppy disk machine in 1985)

Why not make the most (best) not the least (worst) of it?

Cheers,
T

You mention Amstrad and suddenly I'm seeing weird crocodile puppets again. XD

Hahahahahaha...!!! Now there's a blast from the past...!

The thing I never had on my Amstrad was.... yep. you guessed it, Clans... XD

1. I am not good enough to be in a clan. (I lack teamwork experience and capabilities.)
2. I don't speak the same language as the clans do (dutch, german, italian, spanish, russian, french, etc), language barrier is a big obstacle in real time communication on voice chats, which the clans most often require, and at most I can do, is write barely adequate english in heat of battle.
3. I don't main or own the meta ships required.
4. I am not interested in pvp part of the game, like at all, I mostly play operations and coop battles if I log in for a few matches.

Thus, I play alone.

As mentioned above, there are plenty of clans which exist solely for the port bonuses with no expectations of playing divisions or clan battles etc. Just by being in a clan and playing coop or operations you are still contributing oil to the clan treasury which in turn gives more upgrades and bonuses for the clan members.

Upto you anyway, but there are plenty of clans that are happy to take anyone and there are tangible bonuses to be gained from a clan port.

Afternoon Captains, how are we all today?

Hey there Captain Icevail, everyone is "good enough", it doesn't matter that you think you don't have the capabilities - a good Clan will help and guide you to develop.

It also doesn't matter that you think you can't maintain messaging during a battle.

As an example;
Our Clan [TIMAT] SeaEagle welcomes ANYONE who wants to join a Clan, help build the Naval base and share the rewards while just doing their own thing. No demands for team play, no demands for Clan Battles, no demands for you to be at a certain place at a certain time.

Our Clan mottoe is "Be laid back" and that's exactly what we are. The Commander (myself) and Deputy Commander (Co-founder Matt) play on Friday and Saturday afternoons (U.S. CMT) and if someone wants to join a co-op with us we put them in the division.

We set a general objective at the start of each battle but that is subject to change and we don't clog eachother's messaging - just go out and blow stuff up ;P

Cheers,
T
Ahoy Captains, this is, without doubt and with no regrets, a shameless "Bump" of this thread.

Clan [TIMAT] SeaEagle is looking for more Captains to join its ranks and help themselves to gain benefits by helping the Clan build up its naval base structure.

I would like to address one response that came our way, courtesy of Icevail;

1: EVERYONE is good enough to be in a Clan no matter what level they play at, or in. By simply playing, solo or otherwise, your progress adds to the "oil" reserves in the Naval Base and with that oil reserve the Clan Commander can develop base structures that return benefits to ALL Clan members.
2: Language is NO barrier since you do not have to communicate with your Clan-mates. We, at Sea-Eagle don't demand anything like Clan meetings or joint operations. We simply et you do what you wish to do.
3: Meta ships, schmeta ships..! I have only two "Meta Ships" in my fleet of 23 vessels and those I gained by courtesy of the generosity of the "WoW Gods" (for free.)
4: I, as Commander of the Clan nor my brother, the Deputy Commander, am not interested in PvP player either. We get together to play online and we play Co-Op and Operations. That's it. As I have mentioned before, the Clan demands nothing from you except that you play the game your own way. We handle the use of oil reserves in the Clan Base to increase the benefits available to each Captain.

As I've said, we are a Clan that is so relaxed we're ONLY there to help our members to get better. No demands and we'll never ask you for anything except that you continue to play your game, your way.

Good hunting Captains,
T.
Clan Commander
