Best ways to get steel?

Just started playing this again, had plans last time i was on for getting a coal and free xp ship. Was going to be Yoshino and Alaska, but seems Alaska isnt a free XP ship anymore.

Spotted the Agir german T9 cruiser for free XP so il just sub that for the Alaska and still do coal for Yoshino.

Then i went and looked at the steel ships and man do i want that Yamato look a like (save me grinding a whole new line for Yamato). Then i looked at my steel balance... 500ish

Im a loooooong way away and considering im pretty close to the coal and halfway to the free xp, then steel must be going so slowly with the activities im doing. so whats the best ways to earn it?

PS Side question i see we get some for daily missions, yet i can never seem to get "win a round and get 1200 base xp". I did over 100k damage as Ark Royal and even that dosent seem to be enough to get it... Did a 90k damage round in Iowa as well and thought for sure that would get it... nope lol

What sort of damage are we talking to get 1200 base XP?

The daily challenges are cumulative, meaning if you don't get it all in 1 round then it adds up. Best way to do challenges is co op since theres a high winrate due to you being against bots.

You need to get into a good clan who participate in clan battles .... the best of the best can net 12k steel a CB Season I think (you will need super unicum stats for this), most average clans a lot less but it does add up, that and of course ranked battles and daily stuff as above!

How often are CB seasons?

Im defo not a super unicum player... id say im average/below average player. So id guess id make around 4 or 5k a season based off that 12 k for a good player.

Guess il have to search for a clan then, never joined one before :)

As a sidenote, without utilizing Ranked much and CBs at all, I currently am sitting on 12797 steel. I may have used about 2500 in the past, so do the math on how much 2 1/2 years of frequent play gets you in my case compared to what you want to get.

Ooof well i think if i do want to get a steel ship im going to have to do something to maximise earnings. So i guess clan battles would be the best way to go. If its 2 and a half years to get what... halfway there without them... i may as well give up on that idea haha

The best way to look at CB is as follows:
Starter team get out of Squall, get 2200k Steel, decent team get out of gale 2200k, good team Storm 2200k, very good Typhoon 2800k and the best Hurricane another 1600k

The problem is you need to check your wow numbers as any team in storm usually expect 50%+ win rate and Typhoon 60% ish with some serious damage numbers and options on the Tier for CB (this time 9) in multiple ships! so it can be daunting at first!

Clan battles are you best bet, Then ranked, the steel grind is meant to be slow

If you do ranked a bit and CB a bit you should be able to get one ship a year or so. That's about what i do. I never max out the potential of either one of them. Add to that, that you get steel every Christmas (so far) from T8 and 9 ships. I do have a lot of those and they help. Clan bonus helps. I think it maxes at 10%. Remember for ranked, all you have to do is win during the current one. You do get a bit more if you advance leagues, but you'll get some just winning some battles each Sprint.

best way is with clan battles, that way at least you know your team has tried and have not died in the first 3 minutes with your back hurting from trying to carry. YES i am speaking about ranked battles which are an absolute mess.

The thing about the 1100/1200/1300 Base XP dailies is, unless they changed them recently, you don't actually have to get the entire amount in a single battle. They will track progress across multiple battles, however only wins will give you any progress. If you're having an unlucky streak in random, you can just switch to co-op; it may take 2-4 battles per milestone, but you'll almost always be getting wins that way.

You don't have to. They're very easy to get, they just add up kinda slowly. It was a nice addition though.
