F2P players can perform absolutely fine if they are patient with the initial grind and if they execute the fundamentals of the game.
Ace is correct - WG can get a bit "crafty" with how they set up the deals in the game.
But I never understand the mindset of people who expect to be able to play the game for nothing, sorry but it's just weird. WG are a business like any other, they have overheads to maintain (like the staff they employ!!!) and also need to bring in a profit. Fact is, you can play the game fully (and competitively) but just have to invest more time than premium/spending players. There are lots of really good ships in the tech tree, and many of the better ships are obtained via the earned resources such as coal, steel etc, and premium ships drop for no cash investment at frequent intervals - we've just got D Pozharsky for instance.
Also for those who don't like submarines.
Really dont understand why the OP thinks that the game's business model is "fine for CIS but not Europe". Oh well.
I have not spent a dime on this game and have plenty of ships and do just fine.
In terms of monetization, I know that the majority of the player base is pissed at how WG has stepped up on the monetization. The optimal way to approach this game is to buy only premium time. However, there are times when there's a ship you really want in the armory that can only be obtained via gambling or by paying an exorbitant amount. Sometimes, it's hard to resist when you have spare cash in your pocket
I find the opposite. I saw an Izumo with only 29 random battles ever played, 30% winrate.
Being able to quickly spam the same ship again and again accelerates the grind for any given line, instead of having to spread battles around in the lower tiers while waiting for your ship to refresh.
Along with the economic rework, you can always apply the right economic bonus for the right situation - ditto with the game throwing relatively inexpensive high tier premiums at you via dockyard.
It has not changed. That was probably a mostly coop player.
Edit: Your point about the rework stands though. While the xp hasn't changed, the xp you can get with boosters is better, as is free xp.
I don't really like how a lot of the events are monetised in WoWs. But I can easily live with it when I think about my past experiences. And I have noticed that I can easily play the game with only small amounts of money invested every few months simply by refraining from desperately trying to grab everything. And that I'm still getting a lot of good stuff and joy from the game even so.
