Best US premium Cruiser
Ive been saving up my coal for Salem but I am genuinely curious as to what is the best US premium cruiser currently available in the market?

"Best" is relative. It really comes down to player preference. It's hard to advise without knowing what you already like. Salem isn't bad though. However, if I had Des Moines (which is better) I doubt I'd spend coal on it with DM being free. They're nearly identical. Salem has a larger heal, DM has longer range radar I believe and some other advantages that usually offset the heal.

These options are just my personal preferences. I'll go down the list in the armory.

Austin: Fragile, flimsy, but she can be good if you like AA cruisers with light guns.
Vallejo: Not too bad. A bit like Worchester, but not worth the steel in my opinion.
Salem: Discussed above.
Tulsa: Pretty good ship. Fast firing guns similar to Salem, but tier 9. Less firepower, but makes a lot more credits.
Flint: Small, fragile, good for shooting over islands. Not good for direct engagements.
Wichita: A good all around US heavy cruiser. Radar, good AP shells.
San Diego: Similar to Flint but a tier higher, but that's offset by a heal and SAP shells.
Congress: Large, heavy guns, better armor. I haven't played it a lot, but it seems ok unless you're into realism. It's not a real ship, not even a real design, with a ridiculous turret arrangement.
Boise: Surprisingly good little cruiser. Short range high damage guns, but maneuverable and has hydro with a super heal.
Indianapolis: Nothing here to enjoy aside from a real ship with real history.
Marblehead: Basically Omaha from the tech tree but differs in a few things. Longer range torpedoes for one.

My overall pick of those would be Wichita or Boise unless you don't have Des Moines and don't intend to get it (why?). If that's the case, I would go to Salem. Tulsa if you want a credit farmer.

Yep, same. Agir is down the chart a way and isn't quite in the same category.
Well Im honestly loving all of this feedback, Im still learning many of the quirks and tricks of this game. Ive been looking at witchita a bit more, it looks pretty good, in your professional experience Jackson (or anyone in the thread for that matter) would that be a good US T8 heavy cruiser choice ?
She would be my pick for T8 US CA.

I like her. Rochester is fine too, but Wichita has radar which is useful and Rochester doesn't. I don't care for the light island camping cruisers so San Diego is out. To be 100% fair, I don't like Congress because it's a dumb name (US cruisers were named after cities or territories) and her design isn't real or even realistic and I have a thing for the real ships. Congress' performance is good according to stats.

Yeah I absolutely agree with you, the fact that witchita is actually a real ship with real history is pretty nice too. Thank you so much for the help! :cozybethesda: I think my decision can be made with confidence now
