I would love to see Benham or Georgia, but we won't. Fairly sure of that.
I don't see why they wouldn't do Benham or Georgia. They did Massachusetts and that was pulled for exactly the same reasons. Borderline too strong and too popular.
Hm... True. We have Jean Bart as well. So at least one of them would be thinkable. (I don't think they'd do both in the same year though.)

Yea I'd have to agree with that.
Black Smolensk please WG 🤣
Brisbane maybe a nice one for those who missed her!
So are the most likely candidates going to be coal ships at T9? Iwami etc?
They're "a" candidate, but no more likely than others, I would say. Tier IX isn't extraordinarily common on Black ships.
The official WoWs forums section on US cruisers, there have previously been several discussions and replies as to why there's no tier 6 USN premium cruiser in the game, and who would be a contender.

It's a tough justification making a Black Edition from a tech tree ship, because you wouldn't get the doubloons mission for having both the Black Edition and standard version (of a premium ship).
But the situation is, the only current contenders are the Dallas (which WG/Warships "invented" anyway, based on ideas at the time), and Pensacola.

The only way this could work,
would be to introduce a slightly different Pensacola,
as her sister ship, Salt Lake City, as a premium,
and then we could have a Salt Lake City Black edition.

Granted, WG/Warships could just as well add a Dallas clone, make it premium and name it after some other city (maybe one that never got a ship named after it, or was slated to but never did), then also add a Black edition of that.
I doubt they'd make a Black version of the Tech tree ship
They'd want to sell as a premium for the mission above.
I guess it's possible Maybe as part of a package
Fun detail about USS Dallas: It was a name supposed to go to a cruiser at the time. A Des Moines class heavy cruiser.

But yeah, I don't see a Black version of a tech tree ship ever existing. What I could see is where a premium ship version of a tech tree ship or ship class at least exists (I don't know... Omaha-Marblehead?), for the premium version to get a Black version.

Apropos tier VI though, and considering some removed ships were brought back as Black....

Graf Spee B?

Maybe a Nelson B as well, a tier higher?

I would 100% buy a Graf Spee B.
Doubtful they would do Black editions of premium ships, that can no longer be acquired (Graf Spee, Nelson, etc),
UNLESS that would be the only time They offer those ships again (serious cash-grab strategy there).

One thing that potentially DOES draw in revenue, is if a player gets a Black addition ship, they purchase the regular premium version (if they don't already have it), because they see the doubloons missions for owning both as a sort of discount.

So unless there's a limited time sale event on a discontinued premium(s), it wouldn't be as profitable to be giving away a Black edition of the ship.

Which is exactly what they did with Massachusetts, Jean Bart, Alaska... I mean, we ARE talking precedence here.

Don't forget that we are talking about ships that are very popular and usually not available. That has its draw even without any doubloon mission.

Hmm I think those all went black before they were pulled though. It is a way to get a ship that's been pulled (usually at a strong discount as well).
I could see Flandre B or Gascogne B.
What’s the situation with Poltava - the history there? I notice it’s not available in shop/armoury but is a T7 drop (as opposed to a rare) from a supercontainer. Not sure if it’s any good as a ship mind you.
