Why remove convoy as a game mode?
Why remove convoy as a game mode? It was the most entertaining PVP mode that let casual players get a taste of PVP.

It'll probably end up coming to random "soon" if you look at the road map they're adding airship to Random and looks like they want to do the same with convoy.

Why not ? it needs a re balance as was way to easy as the "defending" team, taking out transports was a joke! But hey! We Shall see!

This is true, We lost because the team melted but I almost ended up soloing it in a corner as druid.

Definitely hope it will not be introduced to random until they rebalance it so that both teams have an equal chance of winning (before factoring in the actual players). It certainly favoured the side trying to sink the liberty ships in its latest iteration. Also has to be said there are certainly better and worse ships for this mode which would be problematic if it joined the rotation for random since you wouldnt know if you would be dropped into convoy.

I didn't play it a lot, and maybe I'm totally off base, but I felt both sides were even. I am quite sure that within a fair margin I won and lost equally based on defense/attack.

And as to the rest, yea that's what Random is about though. They don't want you to be able to pick anything specific based on any specific set. Bring an AA cruiser? Might not be CV's. Bring a secondary BB? Might get ocean (albeit unlikely). I think (hope!) this will come to random. Not having the perfect ship fits the mode and my general attitude toward the game.

Hmm well pretty much every ship is viable in any current random match (including ocean) and even ships with great AA will still be able to do well when there are no CVs. There are quite a lot of ships that are pretty much useless in convoy however so they would become less appealing to play if there was a chance of being thrown into a mode where they would have little chance to make an impact.

Didnt play the mode a lot myself but just going by the games I did play and a lot of discussion ive seen about it, the consensus seemed to be that it was a lot easier to sink the liberty ships than to keep them alive. Would be interested to see WGs data on it since even if the split was 55-45 on average in favour of the ones trying to kill the convoy then that would also be a pretty major problem if introduced into randoms.

Kinda. It's still random, but eh... My wishes are rarely catered to. I'm growing weary of everything having to be so even. I'm sure you're right though. They go through a lot of effort to make sure the maps are darn near perfectly even.

We did a total of 4 full nights overall for Community Tokens in our Clan, the final straw was not being able to stop the torps hitting liberty's in DD's just as they got to the "final post" as people took so many Jinans and YY's!! But yeah it heavily favoured Torp Boats and Radars on the "Aggressors" side (Sink Liberties) and you needed aggressive pushing ships with Hydro on the "Protectors" side (Save Liberties) and if you took the "wrong one" or the team did not throw ships in front of the walls of skill ..... Felt kinda "Meh"

Definitely needs a rework to the point where maybe even take away the lines "where" the convoy may be?? because as soon as they (Liberties) smoked the walls of skill coming towards them was laughable at times!! Yes we counter up to 90 torps most where Deep Waters on Two Brothers at one smoke screen!! We lost a 2 x CA's a BB and both Liberties!! of Course then these ships firing all these walls of skill are not as useful to "protect" the Liberties hence I suspect the imbalance!

I think you may be onto something there, R[e]venge. It's not the mode per se that was unbalanced. It's that it made which kind of ships were on which side that much more important. Now I was taking Kurfürst a lot of the time, and that ship worked well in attack and defense. But seems like quite a few ships are monsters on one side of things while not much use on the other. And if they congegrate on the wrong/right side of things for your team, that can pretty much make or break a battle before it even started. Making the mode as a whole feel unbalanced when it actually just exacerbates the problem of how the matchmaker only differentiates ship classes, but not roles.

Derby does not suffer that problem, because on Derby both teams have the same job. But Convoy is a bit a thing of either bringing a specialist ship and hoping for the coin flip to land right. Or bringing an allrounder which may not be as strong in their prefered role as the specialist, but can do the other role as well.

Exactly Christof.... really felt like some ships favoured one side so heavily it was scary!!

This is my suspicions so let me explain 3/4 ships.

I took a Ragnar for example and on the "Defend" side was really useful, Got out in front, spotting and radar enemy smoke DD's and traps while spotting torps, but on the "sink the liberty" side felt really underwhelming! as well I could not get close to them and ended up just farming BB's due to the lack or torpedo's!

Now Replace the Ragnar with my Stalin or Petro I could play both sides really well ..... Good at pushing on Defend Liberty and awesome at Killing the Liberty ships with Radar and Big/Decent guns from Island cover!

again then replace that with the Jinan or Yodo and they are masters at Killing the Liberties but almost useless at defending them as they lack armour and rage to "push" in front of them!!

Finally Compare a Bourgogne to a Vermont .... one is fast and Agile and could do both jobs (Burger) the other struggled to even keep up with them in defend mode but could sit and wait in Kill mode!!! ARGH!! haha

Maybe the MM needs to "Balance" the ships in Convoy mode more "Aggressively" or something??

Anyways! Nearly time for Clan Battles once more!

Limited time game modes like that have come and gone from the game all the time for years now. Occasionally one will reoccur or come back permanently if there's enough demand, as was the case with Arms Race that has now apparently replaced the controversial Epicenter mode. But most of them tend to come and go once or maybe twice, and then are never heard from again.

It's now in shuffle mode, good luck defending against even more random ships, just hope you are on attacking side.
Nothing like 10v10 and 3 random AI with no defenses to make a game interesting...
