Subs vs Carrier
I'm having a heck of a time taking on a carrier with the starter German sub. Do the carriers have a ton of Damage Con to mitigate sonar pings or what. They seem sometimes to have 1 or 2 min of no sonar scan allowed.

CV DCP lasts 60s with a 90s cooldown.

CVs also now have have automated anti sub airstrikes that will attack any sonar pings that are seen within their range (or any spotted sub) so its best just to manually target the CV from periscope depth. If the CV knows you are there then they might dodge the torps but tbh most CVs arent particularly agile or fast so "dumb firing" the torps should work fine. You will have a notification on screen that "sonar ping will be cleared" while their damage control is active so it is possible to force it to trigger then wait out its duration if you really want to use homing.

Thanks. I was getting frustrated not knowing what was going on behind the scenes.

the good news is if the DCP is down and you cause a flooding it does a large amount of damage in a short time

Knowledge is power :) Personally I think its a good idea to at least get a working knowledge of every class by playing them a bit so you know how things look from their side of things. I have noticed a fair few new players who are only playing (for example) subs so they are missing out on a lot of things they might learn if they played DD or whatever a bit as well.

Anyway glad to help. Just a word of caution - a competent CV player will likely notice you are hunting them so will be going out of their way to keep you spotted (or will force you to drain your batteries when you are submerged to hide from planes) and generally make your life miserable. Had a guy earlier (in a sub) who spent 12 minutes of the match trying to catch my CV while I kept fighters over his location and continued to deal damage to his team. After failing to get into range to attack me he got sunk by a friendly Alaska (t9 heavy cruiser) that I pulled him into. Theres a fair amount of CV players (even upto top tiers) who never move all match however, so they are certainly fair game for you.

Good luck ;)
