I guess. It crashed when I first launched it. I relaunched and now I'm able to play. Just unlocked access level 3 just by doing Coop vs Ai. Trying to get use to the controls and how to position my ships. Just unlocked one of the new ships for Japan. Was messing around with it.
Should I keep upgrading each tier of ship that I unlock or is it best to unlock the best ships in that tier then start upgrading? I unlocked the level 2 Japanese Cruiser and have been messing around with it. I haven’t tried Destroyers yet. I’ve been messing around in Coop first to get a feel for the ships.
Alright so on the Tier 2 Japanese Cruiser I have the option to upgrade the range of my guns so I guess its worth picking up then. Thanks for that.
As such, unless you really like the feel of the ship and plan on keeping it,
don't worry so much about adding equipment in the Upgrade/Modification slots for low tier ships: if you do then sell the ship, it costs you 25 doubloons to demount the equipment, or sell off for credits.
So anything lower tier, if you just don't like how it feels, don't waste your credits adding those Equipment modifications.
Once you get to level 15, pretty much everything is unlocked, as far as access to every aspect the game has to offer (clans, collections, containers, the different battle modes, all that stuff).
The early levels each don't require many battles, but the last few do (to get to level 15 from 14, I think was maybe 40 battles... but you will be surprised how quick you can do that in a couple days).
Don't be afraid to add friends: somebody might send you something cheap as a gesture of good will and welcome to the game.
I appreciate that. I just upgraded one of my lower tier ships for increased range. Right now I'm enjoying Coop atm. It gives me a feel for how to move, how to shoot, etc. Once I get a feel for that then I might jump into online battles. I know Coop is bad because you don't learn how to adapt against other real players but eventually once I figure out the basics then I'll jump in and get my butt handed to me lol. If anyone wants to add me as friends then your more then welcome too. I'm honestly kind of lost on what to do.
seriously don't be afraid of Random PvP battles while the game still considers you a newbie! Meaning <= 200 battles in total and currently running Tier 1-4 ship (and not in a division with a veteran). Newbie battles largely consist of bots anyway, but even then you get better rewards. And it's easy to tell apart players from bots, bots have special nicknames like :Halsey:. So you know what to expect to a degree.
AFTER the newbie period if the PvP is too hard for you — THEN switch to coop. You would never be able to return into newbie period again, so use it while you can.
And yeah, have fun, don't rush up tiers — it's a frequent mistake. Spending more on middle tiers allows you to accumulate some resources, commander skill points and most importantly — personal practice.
I wish the game had Mastery Badges like in WoT :) I usually didn't sell a tech-tree tank in WoT until i got Mastery Badge, so in the end i have around 100, mostly low-tier ones, but still. I hope someday we'll have some more progression within a ship in WoWS
I'll consider giving pvp battles a go. Right now I'm just upgrading my Chikuma ship right now. Not the best ship but still fun.
If i remember correctly tier 2 USN and IJN cruisers feel the opposite of the playstyle of the branch and feel like they need to be swapped :)
USN T2 — few guns, longer reload but accurate.
IJN T2 — more guns (after upgrading hull), faster reload.
While further IJN and USN cruisers are the opposite of that.
I understand that but as I said I'm getting a feel for the ships and positioning before I really do jump into PVP. I've played plenty of pvp games in my time on being on steam and the majority its been pretty toxic. Not saying that the players on this game are toxic. You guys have gone over and beyond for me on tips and such and I appreciate that. Would be nice to have some people to play with on here.
