Langley vs Hosho...... oh my god.
I adore the IJN line. I just love it more than any other faction. Hell, you will never find a ship more beautiful than IJN ones.

But unlike the Myogi, whom I get the hang of her and score magic citadel hits with her 350ish mm antimatter cannon occationally (but I still performed rather badly, she just cannot take any hits as she is literally filled with alcohol for the drunken soldiers to fire donuts XD).

Unlike the Tenryu, which I make good use of his magic 140mm semi-auto cannons (fast 7 seconds reload time is fast) and magic torpedos against overly confident Battleships.

Unlike the Wakatake, which I tend to make good use of my smoke,

There is no way for me to pass the learning curve for my Hosho......

I tried numerous tactics, but these are the outcomes:

1. Facing enemy aircraft head on, torpedo bombers quickly arrive at langley to bomb the heck out.

This case, the Langley will take a few hits, but still carry on. Meanwhile my A5Ms are♥♥♥♥♥♥♥and his fighters commence to♥♥♥♥♥♥my bombers (unless RNGesus decided to shine his light upon me), ignoring the machine gun fire from the back turret.

2. Trying to kite the aircraft away to allied AA

This case, even with the help of an allied Myogi/Kaiser (They have good AA for T4, no?), I can only shoot down 2-3 aircraft before getting♥♥♥♥♥♥♥by its 6-aircraft squadron. It will then commence to♥♥♥♥♥♥my bombers.

3. Fight defensively, wait until the BBs are at an ideal positon, then strike with haste.

This case, your teammates will♥♥♥♥♥♥you for you did not send out a bomber to help them. The fact that the your fighter squad is not produced by Schrodinger industries make the Langley feast upon us with 1 bomber and 1 torpedo squad while my A5Ms desperately panic the bombers. Then a fighter squad came and we all died anyway.

1,2,3 all will result to♥♥♥♥♥♥ So overall, our Hosho is r a p e d. :v

I admit it, I might be not very polite for ranting. I am sure that Hosho has her advantages too (nimble for a CV, OK AA, more efficient flight control system, fighters having better armament, very good concealment) but every fight with my Nassau/Myogi/Kuma I see a Langley vs Langley. If our team has a Hosho, then we are destinied to fail. If their team has a Hosho, then we are determined to win.

So what do you Taishos (Admirals) have to say? Do you have a better stralegy for us Hosho players (victims) to counter Langleys? (But first, I have to apologize for ranting. It really sucks that I have to play Co-op everytime and earn something less than minimum wage to Rank 5 for the Juicy zeros on my deck)

Hosho has a greater potential surface ship damage, Langley is weaker in that aspect but is better at air superiority.
So you don't fight it on its "territory".

i started with the jpn and i simply cant stand them anymore. i like to play fast.. and thats simply impossible with jpn cruisers with a turret traverse of a battleship

the only time i ever worry about a hosho in my langley is when he tries to crossdrop my CV from the start.

seriously. dont drop all torps on one direction. you got two squadrons, think tactically. a langley, unless at full speed will have a hard time dodging torpedoes. crossdrop with your TB's from each side and theres a great chance he will go down. he can only field one squadron of each aircraft.

but for the rest. yea i dont worry about the hosho if they dont primary me. their fighters are easily defeated unless RNG ♥♥♥♥♥ me over or when they fly over a few BB's, but then a good langley captain wouldnt fight them.

after fighters are gone on the hosho its smooth sailing for the langley pretty much.

RNG for dogfights is extreme at these tiers. Most of the ships in your matches also won't have strong AA. While it's still a good idea to make use of it, it's far from guranteed to shoot down much or anything rly.

Langley's have an advantage when it comes to dogfights, but it's rly not something to count on, as RNGesus frequently betrays you. But especially as a Hosho try to avoid dogfights early on and, if you can, kite his interceptors into friendly AA. If you're lucky he loses a plane or two. That improves your odds a bit, but again, there's still a lot of luck involved. I've lost 4vs4 within allied AA with just a single kill more often than I can count.

Things get less chancy and more tactical at tier VI.

Just escort your strike planes with fighters. And when he attacks with his strike planes - attack with your fighters, he'll be forced to fight near allied AA.

yea, this, tough if the langley has any sense hell just retreat to his own friendly AA zone or fights in an empty airspace. thats what i do at least, and then i send my strike planes out to hunt.

recently ive been using strike planes to try and bait the enemy's fighters because theyre the only things that i really worry about as a CV, along with DD's.
