William Sims
At this time is there a reason to get William Sims for my Iowa. I am a decent sniper. But in Random Battles I get more straddles amidship of my targets than hits.
Past conversations recommend him for long range accuracy vs Lee for brawling settings but the game has changed a lot recently.
If so, how can i get him on my WOWS steam account?

Are you maybe talking about WoWS Blitz? It's a separate game entirely. I don't recognize either of those names.

It would be cool if Willis Lee was a unique commander in regular WOWs (like Halsey, Lutjens, Yamamoto, etc)--his exploits with the USS Washington were rather remarkable (maybe give him something like 10% improved dispersion with BBs or something like that).

I agree!
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That would make him the most broken captain in WoWs if that ever went through. Basically a permanent deadeye trait.

Thanks all, just try to tweek my Iowa to optimum capabilities.

OK, give him -5% then. Apparently they have given the MIssouri in Narai permanent deadeye skill based on the matches I've seen this week--shell groupings are insanely accurate.

I should have clarified. I have seen conversations online comparing Sims and Lee with out reference to what version of WOWS. I just was curious about if Sims is available through some process. From your comments, Apparently not. Like dakin1 suggested, I can hit Missouri from long range with one or two hits out of nine and if it hits me it gets three to five hits.

Thank you, I saw these this morning, None seem to fit my playing style. I'll consider them as I gain more experience.

Lutjens and Kuznetsov are very strong and I would recommend picking them up if you have the coal saved. With more experience you can also complete free campaign missions to get Yamamoto and Halsey for free (and you will get several super containers along the way). Something to bear in mind as you work you way up the tech trees.

Thank you dakin1, I'll keep your suggestions in mind when I return to wows. I am bored/burned-out with the new silly ship designs. What the hell is the Schleiffen. US BB line is at a dead end while all other ship lines get super fantasy BBs, CCs and DDs. How about a US super BB with the 1949 radar guided 24 inch guns with auto-loading (every 12 seconds) in 3 - 3 gun turrets or maybe 4 x 4 gun turrets, 38 turret face armor, 36 inch end and side armor and 18 in deck armor, quad-bottom impervious to torpedoes, microscopic citadel, radar guided 24 x 6 inch multi purpose secondary guns and 200 radar guided AA guns. 35 knots with 42 knot flank speed, quick rudder shift and a turn radius of 500 meters. Only seems fair. In random battles I'm getting kills and getting the opponents to retreat until the end of the battle and I'm the only ship left on my side. Then the super tanks and Battle-Cruisers? with 24 - 12 inch gatling guns come after me. I tend to survive to the end but I'm sure my winning percentage is around ?40%, just a guesstimate.

Your description sounds like the next Russian ship to be released LOL.

There are no ships in game with 24 main guns--most is 16 (Plymouth, Crisoforo Colombo and Marlbrough), but they tend to have poor dispersion to make up for the volume of barrels. Some of the secondary gun ships (like Schlieffen or GK or Pommern or even Massachusetts) have impressive rates of fire, but they are 150 mm at most and have ranges out to 12.0-12.5 km (don't steer too close to them). Often though their main guns are somewhat lackluster to compensate (Massachusetts might be the exception because they are US 16"/45 guns with heavy American AP).

"Your description sounds like the next Russian ship to be released LOL" I agree LOL. Actually the US began early testing of a 24 inch (609.6 mm) gun in 1949. With the transition to missiles and naval aircraft superiority the project was ended after a few trial firings to test breech pressures. I was being sarcastic about the development of all lines but the US line, developing paper and fantasy ships. I was just highlighting US technology developments through WWII and after and the possibility of a US super BB. The schlieffen's high speed, maneuverability and massively rapid firepower is ludicrous to me. No fun, disappointing, frustrating. The game's ship development is getting out of hand, comical. throwing away any assemblense of reality and historicity so players can feel good kicking two or three generations older american ships ass.

Mind sharing the info on this 24" gun? I've not heard of it and would find it interesting.

I do know there were no battleships looked at after the Montana. That class was canceled because battleships were obsolete no matter the size.
