Günther Lütjens
What do you guys think of Günther Lütjens? I honestly feel let down by his dumb skills. Like we were hoping for a the ultimate Bismarck captain, but instead got the ultimate Graf Zeppelin commander that no one asked for.

And for the cost of 175k coal? Like what? No campaign? I understand that Nikolay Kuznetsov didn't get a campaign either (even though Kuznetsov was really cool guy, read up on him), but his skills are actually good and synergize with eachother.

Günther Lütjens skills are all over the place and don't really work together. And I mean come on: Expert Marksmen? Preventive Maintenance? Those skills are really bad for really any SMS/KMS ship besides maybe the Hipper's with their fragile engines or Bayern/GK with her glacial turrets. Franz/Reinhardt von Jutland make for better Bismarck captains than Günther Lütjens.

Like if I had imagned his skills, it would be something like:
+ Changed first Commander specialization from PM to JoAT: -5% to -10%
+ Changed second commander specialization from EM to AFT: +20% to +30%
+ Changed 3rd commander specialization from IEB to BoS: -15% to -20%
+ Changed "Iron Strike" to "Decisive Strike": Upon receiving a "Devastating Strike" Ribbon, heal the ship for 0.5% of it's HP for 28 seconds
+ If the Devastating Strike was a detonation, increase the healing to 2% for 20 seconds
+ Changed "Exemplary Reconnaissance" to "Shaking Pursuers": When the ship goes undetected after being detected, reduce detection range by 10% until spotted again
+ Changed "Secondary Armament Expert" to "Battle on!": When the ship reaches 50% HP, a flare fires and any secondary guns increase their fire rate by 15% for the rest of the battle
+ Changed "Air Superiority" to "The Final Battle": When this ship is the last ship left alive, decreases main battery reload time by 7.5%

I just did that based off the story of the Bismarck. Probably a little too much, but I think it's better than the psuedo-Graf Zeppelin skills he currently has...

He looks pretty good to me. I'll be putting him in my Kurfurst. Expert Marksman at the least works with that ship. Seems like there's some secondary buff too isn't there? Or am I remembering something else....

he doesnt even really work for the GZ as most of it is to make him use the ship as a secondary ship
but you cant really use manual secs while properly using planes so you can go in and shoot then recover with spotting planes
and its not really any use trying to build secondary without manual
and the build is overpriced as is, leaving the ship as a horrible carrier
he is made for the GZ but even derpy doing that

There was a way to get Kutznetsov, back when the USSR BB's were released. I think it was with tokens (idk... Mother of the Fartherland tokens or something)... you'd get tokens every day and in crates and what have you. It was doable with two-crate gameplay (12k XP per day) during the time of that update.

I got him back then and he does very well on my (by now) Tier-9 BB. A lot better than Gunther Lutjens will be on a German BB. I will probably use my Scharnhorst captain when I start the German techtree... and use the coal to buy either Thunderer or Smolensk when the coupon is released in 11 days...

Apparently hes sub par compared to the Russian one. Kutozov will, for the same price, be a get out of jail free card. With a heal, damacon/repair, and accuracy decrease of enemys all upon reaching 10% health, he's much better that Lütjens.

The CV buff works for what i remember, but the spotting one is stupid. It gives a heal after you spot 3 things, you know, at the beginning of the game, when you have full health. Or you can run off, stop spotting, then go back to farm your heal. The secondary one is sub par, 15% reload boost (on secs) when you hit half health. However secs fire so quickly before the buff its practically unnoticeable, and forces you into a full secondary build. The main gun one isnt bad, -7.5% reload upon 140 main hits; But thats like 1 second off my Hindy reload. Its a DPM boost, but not worth it compared to the others.

It works, but isn't the best compared to the others. If you've got the coal to burn, but the Russian one, or save a bit more and buy a Smolensk.
