Hybrid Battleships....
Am I the only one who finds this concept nuts. The idea seems strange, the look of them seems strange... did they ever actually exist or are they just a biproduct of a vodka fuelled creative session at WG?

PS I know irl they landed aircraft on cruisers during initial testing. But ofc they were horribly suited for launching and landing so carriers lol

I simply dislike them, and I know there was some trials back in the days.
Worst is that they can sit way long back and send those torp plans and you in your BB cant get to them.
Like CV on doping

And Bayern one Tier 6 BB have only 51K hp

I had my first game where the enemy had a division of 2 ISEs and a CV. There ability to keep DDs permaspotted, cross drop torps on enemies and basically harass our team with impunity was quite impressive.

Yea. That is what is to come. No matter what the "testers" say.
We need to learn how to sink them. Serius!!!!

Although funny enough, I discovered that it seems the BB with planes feels like it gets the best AAA of any BB of the entire tier. The Ise can chew through tier 6 CV planes quicker than some tier 8 battleships.

Yeap... that's because it has rockets! Which in theory are fantastic at shooting down planes, but IRL didn't work worth beans ;) Wargaming took the theoretical approach. I think they wanted to give it good AA so that it could moderately defend itself against aircraft while it's owner is away.

Fair enough, I didn't even know that. Considering the game has a lot of paper ships and theoretical stuff, it makes sense to take the theoretical route. Though it still is moderately annoying, but fair, trying to target an Ise in attempt to protect your team, but you barely get a drop off from it. It's almost as hard as targeting enemy carriers, just without the fighter support.

Did run Ranger and tried to torp one ISE, my first wave was downed truly fast when I did go for it. Those plans on that ship are not so great even if they are upgraded.

Mouse posted an Ise guide on official NA forum. Having read it I tend to agree with her conclusions and many of her observations are things I noticed during testing. Hopefully the guide will debunk some of the more outlandish claims about how crazily overpowered it is.......

Actually if the new meta is to sell people an air force to go along with their ships then as a DD primary I'll likely just quit the game for good. I only really enjoy the 1/3 of the games I play without CVs since the games with CVs are spent entirely attempting to counter their ability to spot me with impunity.

I got the Ise and my first impression is the guns are peashooters at its tier. I was not able to citadel other BB's despite me shooting AP into their sides. They probably work good on cruisers but I'll need to play a few more games with it.

I like the torpedo planes. They drop a nice wide torp wall and I landed I 3 hits on a enemy CV with just one attack run.

It also has nice AA. I'm glad I have it but it's a wonky ship. Very different from everything else I've played.

One thing that is nice about it is that you can launch planes but don't have to hide at the edge of the map. You push forward like a BB in the early game and then you can launch planes mid and late game from a forward position. I like the play style it gives you.

I just with its guns could penetrate better. That's my biggest complaint with it.

The guns are pretty much Kongo level in terms of number and damage potential although with slightly better sigma, but the firing angles are much worse. Its the versatility of the ship that makes it interesting.

So far, I love the Ise, but i literally feel like I'm cheating in every match, playing 2 ships at once, cv and bb. But the ship itself is pretty balanced right now.

4 guns instead of 6, slightly more accurate, less damage.

4 torpedo bombers, 2 torps per plane, large health pools, very low torp damage and short torp range.

large ship health pool, below water citadel, good armor, fragile if citadeled, catches fire easily, especially on the flight deck.

At least it's a T6 and not anything higher, or people would really start complaining. Overall, it's a fun ship, and a unique collector's item, and it's as balanced as it can be for being a CV and a BB at the same time. maybe the Ise is paving way for more hybrid ships to come.
