Is it worth consideration? There are two main ships I want, but I don’t want to spend money on both, at least not for awhile.

It's one of the better ones. That said, attack aircraft just got a huge nerf so it's up to you. It's too early to see how stats will change on the CV's post nerf.

Some warning: Kaga's planes have less HP despite having more planes per squadron and more planes in reserve. Overlapped AA will make your planes disappear in 0.5 seconds. Not bad otherwise.

No one I know of gets Kaga to use the attack aircraft.

I actually support the attack aircraft nerf, so it isn’t a bother to me honestly.

I wanted to know how people think of it, the indication from the description is you get a lot of ready planes for them being more, disposable. Also, it can be mildly compensated with the survivability captain skills, I want to get the other Suzuki captain for my future Zaō, and he has a special extra survivability perk so I wonder if the Kaga, being premium can be used without retraining, would be good with him adding extra survivability to planes to compensate for the low HP.



Also a minor thing, the Kaga has A6M5s and B6Ns, and A6Ms and B5N/B6Ns I think are beautiful aircraft so there is that aesthetic bonus with the shape I like. No point in taking a ship that isn’t aesthetically pleasing, after all? But I don’t know if I want that as my first bought premium, or the Atago, for a similar reason.

Though I do love the look of the A6M5 and B6N, it is a tad silly though I guess. Considering a ship that sunk in mid 1942, that use aircraft that were introduced in later 1943, as it’s main craft. I guess though that’s minor, considering this is World of Warships after all. At least the ships and aircraft actually existed, after all?

I'm no pro with CV's but it's one of my favorite T8's. Probably my favorite next to Enterprise (just because enterprise is so easy). And Kaga was the only CV I ran into in 1v1 that could kill my Massachusetts. 26 torpedoes later....

I guess I have one more question though — how often does it see Tier X? I imagine it would be very annoying if it had half the enemy tier Xs every other game with weaker planes. Is it bad uptiered and does it see uptiers all the time?

Tier VIII planes are horrible uptiered, try getting close to enough to, say, sniff a Worcester's ass and see how that goes. And you see Tier X quite often.

I guess it also is worth asking, how good of a money maker then? The other ship considered is the Atago, what kind of profits would these tier 8 premiums make?

CVs make the least amount of money, even premiums. Atago will be a better money maker than any Tier VIII CV.

DDs can be really good money makers b/c their operating cost is the least of all ship classes, but they are hard to master and to have consistently good games.

Don't discount a BB like Tirpitz or Alabama or Kii, premium BBs can make money too.

I might want the Scharnhorst eventually, but there are not many DDs I’m terribly interested in, and I like BBs but not as much. Cruisers and carriers are my favorite, I was looking at Kaga and Atago for awhile. I don’t know, maybe I’ll get both eventually, but maybe the Atago I could get first. But I have the Lazo and Kirov, so I do already have premium cruisers. This is even presuming I decide to get a premium.


This is just the consideration I have, asking about this. There are two main ships I want, and I only am willing to spend the money for one. Maybe the Atago first, since I do have up to the Ibuki, but I haven’t bought the Shokoku yet.

It should see T10 a bit less than 1/3 the time. You're guaranteed a max of 40% - tho that's based on tiers and if you switch, it starts over as far as I know. It used to be close to the 40% but now with solid tier battles you have 4 types. T8 down to 6, T9 down to 7. T10 down to 8 and solid 8. I'm not sure how that affects it, but I'm certain it does to an extent.

It'll make good money. I can't say for sure if it makes less than other T8's. Planes on normal carriers seem to cost more. Maybe someone can look into that for sure... Either way, you definitely will make good money.

I was fortinate to get a +200% bonus on purchase coupon, so I actually am able to get both the Takao-class and Kaga like I wanted, and I even could get the Scharnhorst too if I decide to, which was my third consideration.

Though, technically related more to the Atago, I am glad there are other camo options since tbh idk how I feel about the Type 10, but does premium camouflages go on sale at any point? Or if I consider getting one, is it full price only?

Get it, I have 1.8 million xp on it, its worth it, TORPS do alot of dmg if played right, Dive bombers eat BB and even DD like nothing, speed is fast, not as fast as shokaku, but good enough, HP of planes fells average, with the right skills they can last, if you get in a T6 game, you basically can single handly control the game.

But there are some downsides, High tier AA will eat you up, your ship is easy to get spotted and you are a bit slow and on top of that you are a huge target. Dive bombers got nerfed, so no more HE bombs, just bombs, torp bombers are easy to use, but hitting all 4 is a bit hard.
