Destroyers at T6 are relatively easy to play as there's not much radar. Your priority should be to get a 10 point captain so you can take Concealment Expert for better stealth (unless you play Russian destroyers) and you also need Survivability Expert for more health. All destroyers are squishy so you need to respect your concealment. Your primary tasks are capturing objectives, spotting for the team and countering enemy destroyers.

The best thing a new player can do is set the alternate UI in the lower left corner of the game options to 'full'. This will permanently display a lot of useful information right next to your targeting reticle. You should also enlarge the minimap to its second largest setting by pressing the +key on your numpad a few times.

WoWs is about game knowledge. If you know the ships that are displayed on your screen when you press TAB you'll have a much easier time. Which cruiser has radar, is this DD a gunboat or a torpedo boat, will he outspot me, how fast do their torpedoes reload. This is something that will come with time.

Your game automatically records your battles and keeps the latest 30 or so. If you want to you can ask good players to watch them and tell you how to improve. Replays can be uploaded here: https://replayswows.com/

No one likes Standard Battles. There are no objectives to fight over therefore the first team that moves loses. What's your biggest issue? Are you unable to influence the match? Do you get deleted immediately? Which ship classes do you play and at which tiers?

By standard battles, do you mean random? It can be hard to develop the habits that you need to do.
Also if you do mean random battles, I have no clue what the first guy is talking about.

By Standard Battle that may refer to the mode within Randoms with the base capture points only.

Hey Cole I sucked when first started playing..it takes time.. like 75-100 hours to get comfortable with doing battles... like in war soldiers that survive there first battle have a 98% chance of living through the war.. so good luck..

thanks for the confidence boost, i really do need all the luck i can get

I had the same problem when I first started. Pay attention to your positioning. Watch the mini map. See where your team is, where the enemy team is and learn when to be aggressive and when to let things play out. Use islands, smoke, and distance to limit the amount of enemy ships can see you and shoot you.

Another thing that comes with time is understanding what your ships strengths and weaknesses. play to minimize your weakness and play to your strengths. It comes with time. I suggest checking some youtube videos to help understanding the basics.

Cole just hang In there I even quit at 500 hours and blamed every one and the game this game has a long learning curve....,I know where your at. At 500 hours not worth a crap ,900 hours things started to feel good,1200 hours feeling good,2000 hours my timing was great shooting and aiming almost seems real easy. 3000 hours It gets even better. All I can say Is play a lot to get good and watch videos. Best of luck to you....
