Obviously if someone sends you a compliment (ie +1 karma) then they thought you played well, or were helpful.
If you wish to report or compliment another player then rclick their name in match or on the results screen and the option is there.
Its really not worth worrying about as a game mechanic, although people with high karma scores tend to be people who play well etc.
Edit: Oh and you can only report a given person once per match, so there is no point in spamming all your reports at someone who you think deserves them - they will still only get -1 karma.
I don’t know what happens if it gets too low, or if something happens if it gets too high.
Karma is a concept from the India region, usually with Hinduism religions and Buddhism, it’s like some kind of natural force that accumulates through your life, by doing good or evil deeds. Someone accumulates karma when they are not being a good person, which upon death, will effect their reincarnation in the cycle, and will be reincarnated as a lesser being or a lower caste (kind of like a class in society, but determained upon birth and cannot be changed) among humans, or being a good person will eventually break the cycle of reincarnation and become something better.
I believe this is where Karma is getting used from, it’s an eastern idea on a natural force that accumulates to a person over their life, based on their good and bad deeds in life. In game, getting reported accumulates and effects your karma negatively, while getting compliment effects your Karma positively and shows you’re an exceptional player, gameplay wise or being friendly in chat.
About the only thing that grinds my gears now is people sitting in spawn the whole match.
I've been told that at one time there was some bonus associated with having a high Karma but now it is just a meaningless way for Wargaming to make you think your feedback matters.
But of course your feedback does not.
Karma points are the subjective scoring of random people over whom you have no control and little influence. If you get a Solo Warrior you might get a +1 but more likely some child who exits the game in the first 5 minutes will choose you as the target of their rage and you'll lose 2 pts.
I stopped looking at my score a long time ago.
Locked.
