Working on triple monitor UI centering
I'm working on a config file(drop and run in res_mods/version(7.1.1)/gui folder. Completely legal mod), that'll move the UI elements I can to the center screen.

Unfortunately I haven't found a way to move the battle panel(the panel on the left and right that lists friendly and enemy players and their ships), or the chat, but everything else I should be able to move. This will make stuff like hitpoints, speed, compass, and map much easier to see for those playing on surround or eyefinity setups.

I'm working on 3x 2560x1440(7680x1440) right now. But will also work on 3x 1920x1080 if theres enough demand.

Will post screenshots soon.

Interesting, as an owner of a 3x Surround setup with 1920 x 1080 I am interested in this.

Alright.

Here's what the game looks like Vanilla:

And here's what the game looks like after my changes:

Ribbons aren't pictured but they're on the main monitor as well. As expected I was not able to move chat or team lineups.

*keep in mind this version is for 7680x1440 and things will be offset in weird spots for 5760x1080* I'll work on the 1080p version later.

I'll find someplace to put it on official forums later. If you want it sooner dm me and I'll stick it on google drive.

Looks good!

Maybe those would become movable after they implement 4k+ support. At least in next version you would be able to increase minimap more without mods, small step in that direction.

BTW checkout teams lineups mod from Badobest which expands those teams icons in the top middle completely replacing those lineups on the sides. It's in Aslain modpack for example.

Also there are mods for chat(adding ship name for example and other things), maybe they are movable, not sure, i only use one display :)

They added 4k support in 7.2 beta. In the form of minimap sizing.

"Good news for 4K fans! We’ve added additional Minimap zooming steps for the 3840x2160 resolution." I don't see them doing UI centering like WoT has anytime soon. Very few games have native ui centering. WoT being one of them.

Replacing the team panels doesn't make them moveable.

I also found out the vanilla chat can be moved in game without mods.

Sorry to dig this up. Is there a place I can try such mod? I just logged back in after more than a year and pleasantly find the aspect ratio is now correct! The UI is the only problem now. Feel free to just throw a few pointers/files for me to look around. I don't mind poking around trying to get it working. Thanks.

I'm sorry I can't be helpful on mods as I don't use any. I just enlarge the minimap off to the right as large as it will go. Personally I prefer to have the stuff off to the sides so the middle screen is clear/clean.

Thanks for the reply anyway. Yeah, enlarging the map to max size does help a lot, but I still kinda prefer not having to turn my head left and right for chats and maps. I kinda hurts if I play for a bit longer. :-(

This is how mine currently looks.
Yea I hear ya on that. A lot of people don't like it. Things like menus are still stretched too. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest by the devs for this aspect ratio

Sad to see this not working.

Devs are barely able to keep a "functioning" port UI, dont expect anything, period.

Well, high resolution support(like 4K) was improved since they, GUI scaling added. Few players use triple-monitor systems yet, so devs need to choose whether to implement something for the majority or something for a few % of the playerbase.

Eh, it's easy. Many many games work with it with no modifications outa the box. Maybe some game engines it's harder for. Often i'll find even very old games that work fine with it.

Hey, let's not turn this thread into debating about why triple monitor support is not perfect. Even huge budget games get them wrong very often, especially on the UI part. It mostly depends on the middleware or game engine devs are using, and of course devs need to test it once at least. Other than EA/Ubisoft and a few other studio specialized on racing, I don't really expect consistent perfect triple monitor support. It's a niche setup after all.

Community has been doing the rest in most cases, either by modding or live patching memory contents. Both are not viable in a multiplayer game, and I don't want to risk getting banned. I surfaced this again because i just realized aspect ratio is now fixed (due to addition of 21:9 support?) and OP seems to have improved UI with a legitimate modification to existing configs.

I just want to see if I can replicate the results to improve my experience within what current version already provides. I looked into preferences.xml, but I don't see anythng that would let me shift UI elements.

Edit: Now I finally understand what OP meant by "res_mods/version(7.1.1)/gui folder". So it's through official modding support, not just tweaking existing configs.

Yes, we have official modding support and simple GUI changes are safe and shouldn't even affect FPS and stuff.
I have only single display, so can't help more with that, sorry :) Can find some topics on official webforums or WoWs reddit if you need, just tell me.

Eh I probably have the file around here somewhere.

Haven't played world of warships in a fair time, have gone back to wot.
