Battleships can heal. Fire damage can be fully restored (unlike the direct damage done by shells). Just let single fires burn, unless you are out of heals and at low HP. Use your repair (Damage Control Party) only at 2 or even 3 fires, depending on the situation. Use islands and positioning to reduce the number of enemies that can shoot at you at once.
In addition, get the Fire Prevention skill asap. You need a commander with 10 skill points for that, but it reduces the amount of fire damage you take by a lot.
Finally, go into the graphic settings and check the "reduced fire and flooding effects" to reduce the psychological impact of fires on you and make it less stressful to let (single) fires burn for their entire duration.
Hahaha, true, so true..... but as for fires, yes, often your going to be on fire way more than the probability of it should dictate simply because the RNG doesn't like you today. That's just how it is.
Aside from the advice already given above, you can also use your heal a little bit like a secondary repair.
I also think about 50% Hitpoints should automatically be recovered when the fire is out.... representing that section of the ship returning to service.... Also allowing ships without heal to reverse some fire damage.
Ooooh, fire-Burn me up with Fire,"-Pointer Sisters
Yeah I hear ya, wait till u see these Euro DDs flame you w 2 sec reloads...Shesh. Where is that fire extinguisher, ah screw, I am jumping overboard people.
Now i play DD's and i freakin LOVE to set fires....
Simply a matter of perspective..
There are also captain skills and modifications you can add to reduce the
amount the duration and the probability of fires being started.
We also die FAR FASTER from fire than the large hulls....
YES, DD's AND Cruisers DO fire at each outher as well as at BB's.....
Hell no... people specifically 'want' to set fires on BB, whearas DD they just want to avoid overpen and cruiser they want to citadel..... if your trying to set a fire on a cruiser its because you got a bad angle and don't yet have anything better to shoot at. (or your a destroyer)

The number 1 important rule of fire is the last shot must always be a fire, you can take that to the bank.
enemy ship died, you hit repair too soon, last dying shot just happens to make a fire
Your heading for cover behind island, not expecting anymore shots can reach you, you hit repair too soon, last shot shows you how it cam mirraculously still reach you, and of course, it has to be a fire.
The chances of lat last shot not being a fire, are calculated to be -100000000000000000000 to the power of 1000000000000
Umm it works great especially in PVE modes where you will be taking lots of sustained fire from bots lighting you up. The benefit of only having the 2 sections in the middle merged into one is huge for surviving for BBs. This is more so due to bots aiming center mass and those sections being the most likely ones to be set on fire.
I realise there is an element of chance involved, but every time i tried fire prevention, i can honestly say i was on fire even moreso than without it.... specifically i tested it in the mission where you have to rescue the transports. I tested it with my bayern, i tested it with my New Mexico, i tested it with my Mutsu... i was on fire just as much if not more with fire prevention perk EVERY TIME... i quickly removed the useless perk before the free captain skill change period was over.
I also should add, without fire prevention perk i normally play by leading out in front, gotta try to preserve the noobs somehow.... and i am used to managing allot of enemy fire. That is why it surprised me to see the fire prevention perk doing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.... You would think the minus 10% would do 'something' but honestly, NO,... I also use the 20% fire period reduction flag as standard, and i also always use the 5% time reduction all modules flag and the level 2 repair module.
So, because of the above, i thought perhaps that fire prevention perk simply doesnt work in weekly missions? But you say it does.... so, that's bizzar??
