I recall having all ships with commanders and can assign a commander to reserve back then so I assume there's a reserve interface.
There are only 8 slots available in reserves unless you do a certain campaign mission which gives you 3 more slots.
So the reserve slot is just a vacant commander slot for ship of the same nation then?
Okay I see it now. I was looking for the expansion button thing.
The reserve slots are for commanders of every nation, but there is only 8 slots available total, untill you unlock 3 more through a campaign mission(cant remember the name). So be careful when dismissing commanders, I would keep high skilled and special captains.
Edit: The campaign is "honorable service" mission 3, task 6 and it actually gives you 4 more slots, not 3 as I said earlier.
