Someone please explain to me how "free XP" works and how to research stuff??

Help out a noob pls

Ive just got the game today and im extremely confused on how does the tech tree system work

before i unlocked this "free XP" Feature, i could use normal XP to unlock ships, But now, it seems its forcing me to use it to continue to unlock ships?

because im gaining it at like a rate of 10 per match, so its going to take ages for me to unlock anything-

is this meant to be or im just beeing dumb?

i can use normal XP on some ships but not in others? pls help am confusion

you need to have xp in the ship preceding the ship you want to research to unlock a ship
if you dont like that ship you can also use free xp
wich is about 5% of the xp you earned that match
free xp casn be used on any ship
check the modules tab
i found it clearer then the tech tree tab

In a nutshell:

XP: To be used to improve your current ship's modules and unlock the next ship in the line OR next to it.

Free XP: Can be used to unlock any unlockable ship in a line, but ships still need to be researched in order. For instance, you cannot unlock Bismarck without also researching everything before it.

It will come together just play the ship you like or country and you will gain xp and free xp you then use it as up go up the tier on next ship....Its pretty easy just have fun...

Is just XP you can use on anything.

You get some all battles.

Think bout this. You got 4 classes of Character, and each time you finish a mission, you get EXP and FREE EXP.
EXP can only be used on the same character to unlock skills and to unlock next level, You cannot use this exp on any other character.

FREE EXP in the other hand, you can use on anything else. On other characters to get new skills or to get them to level up. (in this game's .. ships, ships devices, and commanders)
FREE EXP is awarded at a very small rate compared to normal EXP.


Note that once you have maxed a ship(researching all the available options and buying the next higher class og the same type). You can then get elite status on that ship. Any experience on this elite status ship can then be converted into FREE EXP by expending DOUBLOONS.


Then there is COMMANDER exp, which works as normal EXP.. and then theres also ELITE COMMANDER EXP, which works like FREE EXP for Commanders only.
Note that you can use normal FREE EXP to boost commanders too.
