This, however, is fairly pointless, since you can get a Texas for free by using an invite code when you first start playing.
Otherwise, you really can't test drive ships here.
But you can download the Test Client and play that (when it's running, which is every month or so on average). In it, you often get access to high tier ships which you can play for the testing duration. Plus you can get nice rewards for your main account there as well.

But seems some people like it enough to buy later, so maybe WG decides to add some more someday. Maybe not. But even then it won't be all premiums, just some of most popular maybe.
Anyway, participate in the next Public Test, because the game is mostly about tech tree ships anyway :) And you can reach any T10 ship in several battles on PT(less if using boosters and FreeXP conversion). The currency on PT account is separate and is reset on each test, so spend as much as you want.
