How does blacklisting work?
I have over a short period of time come across a player who I do not wish to be teamed with or to be any where around. I thought that blacklisting that player would mean that I would not be matched with them or have to be honest put up with their bad language. I am not adverse to the swearing, but the automatic negative crap that they start spewing when the game starts. Is there any way at all that I can just avoid this person who makes this game so much worse? I thought that blacklisting would do it.

well it doesn't stop the person you blacklist from showing up in your games
but it prevents blacklisted users from sending you messages in-game and in the menu :v

No, blacklisting only hides his messages in chat.
You may also report him for misbehavior in chat, if he receives enough reports - system would automatically block all chats for him for 24 h.

And if you make screenshots and send them to Tech Support - he might receive a harsher penalty, maybe temporary game ban.

If youre getting these sorts of behaviour, go to the wargaming forums, join if you need to and scroll down till you see the support option, then you will see the "rules & violation" option, open a new ticket but be sure that you have video or screen shots of this persons behaviour, good luck...

Thanks for your replies guys. Was just hoping not to come across that player, but I can just ignore. I'll report them when appropriate and just ignore in general

Report here: http://wargaming.net/support/tickets/

No need to go to forums

Hi,

You’re in the Asia server, correct? If so, you can message me directly and I can get them banned myself if you have the evidence.

I don't really care about geeting them banned, I just would prefer not to deal with that BS. I thought blacklisting would stop matching with them, but I aren't going to get precious about it. I suspect that the user gets reported a lot. They don't appear to be a team player. As I said I'll just bite my tongue and ignoe when I come across them, and report when it is bad.

If you could blacklist people for the purpose of preventing them from being matched with you it would cause unbalancing in the game as a lot of people would be doing it.

And you could make staged battles :)

This is an interesting topic. Honestly game chat is usually so toxic, if wows wanted could enforce automatically through text parsing code... However 80 percent of population would be gone until people wisened up.

I think the problem is that the abusive, nasty ones in the community are a lot more obvious and vocal than the majority of reasonable players. That makes it look quite poisonous to new players when it is just a few who are making it bad for others. I would be happy with just a mechanism to hide anything they put in the chat. That way I won't be tempted to feed the trolls and sink to their level.

Personally i feel that WoWs community and battle chat are far less toxic than on average. Though game tempo also leaves more time to chat casually :)

You can disable chat BTW, but only on per battle basis as i know(hold ctrl and hover to find button near it) or maybe there's some mod for that. BTW i recommend using mod that show ship class next to the nickname of sender, quite useful.

Thanks for the tip Ryuu.
