don't trust german BBs
their captains are the biggest cowards of them all if they have all that armor and sit back sniping with guns that have poor accuracy :v

American BB Armor > German BB Armor
Granted, Germans have buffed secondaries anyways; but any captain (user) can play the sit back game, it's dumb but welcome to the Wargaming community.

The current meta supports that sort of gameplay, because random battles often aren't 12v12 anymore, sometimes it's more like 1v23 and playing how - like in your example German BBs - some ship lines are expected and were designed to be played, brings your ship down below the water surface far to fast.

Didn't you end up in games where your team was down by 3 - 4 ships withing 3 minutes? Some peoples reaction to this is running away or staying far, far behind where they should be. People are less afraid of losing games than taking damage. Sad but currently reality.

You sure those were BB but not BC? Last time I check Germany navy only have BC.

Geni is the only battlecruiser in the german bb line

Most players are pansy little babies firing from max range with BBs the whole game i perfer to use my BB at sub 10km because german secondaries are strong if you get in range to use them.

There's various articles online that state the Gneis, Scharnhorst & Tirpitz were all battlecruisers.

Tirpitz
TIL, Tirpitz, a Bismarck-class battleship, was somehow a battlecruiser.

(((thinking)))

In the case of Tirpitz I doubt this. Present sources when making such a statement, please.

as a dedicated german ship player, (or more specifically primarily) i can say that the cruisers are sorta glass cannons, some, like the hipper, like to blow up when the breeze picks up to over 35 knots, but the bbs are second to none. people just dont know how to play them. generally, u start the game going dead slow ahead to whatever cap your team is goin to, or a better play is to full throttle it far east or west to get all your advasaries to one side of your ship, then turn in, bow on, and run into the cap at half speed. the enemy will pepper u with fire but u shouldnt take alot of damage. i can routinly take 3 or 4 ships at a time without losing more then 1/4 health, as long as i stay bow on to all of them. the bbs are floating tanks that can easily sway a battle when played right, but DEFINATLY not to be used as a far out broadside sniper as the dispersion becomes far to great starting at about hal;f the max range. my derp is most effective with manual secondaries and at 10k or less.

the biggest issue with this game is most think this is a "shoot as many as u can as fast as u can before u die" type of game. it isnt. DD's scout and snipe targets of oppertunity at close range, cuisers support DD's and bb's, and BB's support cruisers and occasionally protect carriers if they are close enough. mainly people all just split up and go there own route, leaving the rest of the team to pick up their slack. no matter how good the ship is your in, you are inevitably only as good as your team and the quality of their planning.

Wait until you see GK divisions without camo or flags literally hugging the border and shooting HE all game.
LordPhoenix Jan 25, 2018 @ 9:13am
lol, i see that now. i hate those HE spammers, espeically the atlanta. damn i want that ship so i can piss off people with my HE spamming.

i would also like to add that, altho my german t8 bb's can hold their own, and win in most cases, against a t10 bb, my post above refers to an even match of tiers.

Gneis and Scharnhorst are both Scharnhorst Class vessels. They are a sucessor of a WW1 Battlecruiser hull that was planned called Ersatz-Yorck Klasse. Funny enough thoose three Ships that were supposed to be laid down in ww1 where called Ersatz Panzerkreuzer York, Ersatz Panzerkreuzer Gneisenau and Ersatz Panzerkreuzer Scharnhorst. So yes calling them battlecruisers makes alot of sense.

Then again theres no firm definition of a Battleship/ battlecruiser anyways.

tech speaking, a BB is really referred to as a heavy cruiser, where all ather cruisers are considered light or medium cruisers. the term battleship is really a slang term from ww1, when the sailors assigned to the new class said something like " this ship was made for battle", meening that in the past, a cruiser vessel was made for a multitude of roles, from scouting to attacking, defending and supporting, but the bb was made for one purpous and 1 purpous only, to beat the crap out of the enemy with large guns, and to take hits that would sink all other boats, hence the birth of the term battleship, which was eventually adopted by the navys of the world.

Most BBs sit back. Actually I see more german BBs push in than others because of their turtleback armor. I like to push in my Battleships when there is strong support. Without strong support it is suicide.

I bet if you coordinate with supporting BBs in chat you will get more to commit with you on a push. Problem is, often in PUG games I commit to push only to have support backout. Battleships have hard time undoing a commit on a push.
