Your top 5 most hated ships that you played ?
im curious which ships you hated to grind through, or play with, that gave you the hardest time in this game...

ill start:

5: Hermes, British tier IV tech tree CV. this is the lowest on the list, due to the fact that its in my opinion the best of the tier IV CV's, but that doesnt mean it isnt a crap ship.

dispersion on its carpet bombers is hilariously bad, as well as their impact, often causing clear hits on battleships to bounce off because the bombs are smaller than a potato. However sometimes the dispersion still works in your favour, and the bombs are by far the better weapon against DD's.

but what makes this ship truly bad are the rocket planes, especially considering how well their tier VI counterparts perform. you can't hit the broadside of a barn with these confetti launchers, let alone do any damage if they impact something. this makes for a classic tier IV carrier experience, boring, bad, unrewarding.

4: Huanghe, tier VI Pan Asian premium cruiser. Basically a worse Leander with good secondaries which have no business being on that ship, as its a cruiser. its torpedo's are fun, and its smoke can be really good in the right situations, but overall one of the worst pemium ships considering what it commonly faces, and the fact that theres other cruisers of the same type that perform better.

3: Emerald, tier V british tech tree cruiser. low tier british tech tree cruisers are bad, especially when compared to their other nation's counterparts, but the Emerald takes the cake. garbage guns, with a garbage AP shell, garbage concealment. this thing is dreadful to play. which is a shame, because the Leander you grind towards is an amazing ship.

2: Colorado, tier VII USN tech tree Battleship. This thing is absolute hot wet garbage, and i have a good mind to put her on 1: but that spot is already taken by another even worse ship.

Why is it bad ? its slow as hell. Which might not have mattered if all its tech tree tier counterparts weren't much faster than this junkheap. Sure, the guns are good, and the heal is good, but that doesnt matter if everything else about this turd of a ship is bad.

You cant run, you cant hide, you cant push. Stay back and you might as well read a news paper instead of play the game.

Push with your team but they're going the other way and you cant keep up ? (you cant, this thing is slow) have fun getting burnt to a crisp by one of the billion HE spamming cruisers you regularly face on this thing.

Went on the boring flank on two brothers ? good job, you did absolutely nothing for the entire match, how fun !

This ships awful shortcomings are made even worse with the CV changes, if you face tier 8 CV's you might as well not bother.

This ship taught me to hate. quite why this worthless piece of♥♥♥♥♥♥is still in the US tech tree is beyond me, it has no business being there, as its a downtier from the new mex in almost every aspect. this thing should be a tier lower, or even better, removed from the game entirely, this thing is baaaaaaaaaad.

1: Omaha, tier V USN tech tree cruiser. the Omaha, or as i'd like to call it, the Omahahaha, is another example of a bad ship thats good at being bad. Much like its already garbage cousin the Phoenix this thing has only few improvements to offer, while still being bad in the worst degree, and facing uptiers to boot.

Its fast, and maneuvreable, but it has terrible guns, with terrible firing arcs and slow shells, torpedo's that are bad, and terrible protection, oh wait, it has NO protection, even a swiss cheese is more sturdy than this turd. oh yea, and the gun arcs are bad too, especially if you want to do any kind of damage to the enemy.

This ship gave me the worst time in game, and made me reluctant to ever grind out USN cruisers. luckily the light cruiser line becomes pretty good after this horrible ship.

Omaha bad? Seriously? It's one of the most effective, if not THE best tier 5 ship in the game. If used properly.
Similarly, the Huanghe is very effective, if you take account its weaknesses and make full use of its advantages.

The only downside to Omaha is just her AA, her gun might not be able to pen BBs but they're great against CLs and DDs.

i can do fairly well in the huanghe, the thing is just that its so underwhelming compared to its tech tree equivalent.

its mainly in the list because while its a premium its tech tier equivalent is simply better, and to me one of the relatively useless premium ships.

Omaha isnt just bad, its terribad. worst ship i ever played, i had such a bad time in it that i really hate it. constantly getting uptiered in that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a ship didnt help either.

the dallas i got afterwards was a much better experience

I can only name 2 ships I truly hate to drive (keeping in mind this thread, by its very nature, is highly subjective- one man's epic personal combat yacht is another's garbage scow):

-Dresden: It always felt like her guns were too small. Like they should have gone with fewer guns
of higher caliber.

-Bretagne: IDK why but I could never hit anything at less than 8km with this bloody thing. And end up getting pummelled right back from having to get that close. Damage output was OK but I basically had to suicide-run the poor girl every round.

Furthermore there were a few ships that I hated until I figured out how to use them properly:

-Pensacola: It's made of paper. Other than that she's a fabulous gunship. Had to learn how to keep her safe.

-Atlanta: See Pensacola. Now with torpedoes!

-CVs in general.

Finally, here are 5 ships I absolutely LOVE, in no particular order (excluding the previous 3 entries):

-Bogatyr
-Tirpitz
-Iron Duke
-Valkyrie
-Konigsberg

Yeah, gotta agree with this, I loved the Omaha so much I bought the Murmansk as my first premium. It was quickly over-shadowed when you unlocked the Cleveland at tier 6 though but still have and occasionally use the Murmansk.

Also loved the Colorado, guns over-matched every ship in it's tier, yeah it was pig slow but a great ship to push in. Citadel a few cruisers bow in and they soon dis-engaged, especially when you dropped the heal to heal through all their fires.

The only ship I really hated was the Asashio, first 5 games in it and 100k plus each game, it was disgustingly easy to reach out and blat straight lining BB's at the back. Think I got a 70% WR in her although I only played the 25 games to boost my captain skills. Far too easy to rack damage up.

Can't really think of any others.

+1 to 'Omaha is amazing.' It's the only ship I've kept as an Elite. Nothing feels better than burning a T7 premium to the ground using a lightweight T5. Finally got IFHE recently and it's even better now.

I can't say I really hate any of the ships I've played, but I've struggled with several of the ships in the RN tech tree. I've had a hard time with several of the DD's, and I'm still learning how to use the Fiji effectively. One of my best games yet was with the Leander though, and I really loved that ship. Kinda wish I woulda kept it, but I didn't have spare room at the port.

Mutsuki took some getting used to as well, considering it has no cannons, but I loved it by the time I sold it to get my Fubuki.

Some of the German cruisers have given me a hard time, but I still like them. I don't like my T-22 yet, but I'm still learning how to use it.

Well there were some very bad ships... But I can usually learn to like most ships given time. I won't list anything below Tier 5 as I feel you can do a couple battles and be done and therefore they won't really garner realistic dislike.

5: Old Furutaka. It sucked. I hear it's better now, but I've never played the new one.

4: Emerald. It just sucks.

3: Konigsburg. If there were a cruiser worse than Emerald, it'd be this one.

2: Kronstadt. Sure, it can pull off good games. But mostly it can't. If there was one premium I wish I could get a refund for, it's this one.

1: Izumo. I hated this one so much just looking at it that I skipped it. Maybe that shouldn't count since I've never played it... But no ship has made me skip it just by looking at it either so I feel it deserves the spot :)

Honorable Mention: Atlanta. I can't make it work. I know that's me and that it CAN be a good ship but I just don't enjoy playing it. I do, however, enjoy looking at it. And sinking it. It does sink so easily! So we have a love/hate relationship.

Ooh, I loved the Furutaka. It's soft-skinned, but those cannons are amazing. The Aoba feels like a downgrade in comparison.

The Koenigsburg definitely does kinda completely suck.

izumo is a huge waste of deck space, plus it looks horrible indeed.

Emerald is pure trash, the leander afterwards is amazing though.

Atlanta: never played it, however it makes the top of my most hated ships to play *against* as someone who had to suffer that thing in terrible slow battleships and when playing DD's and getting radared by the thing.
Masterhummel May 30, 2019 @ 3:53pm
The Izumo is fine after upgrading it and learning that the back turret is a lie. It only feels so bad because it had two excellent predecessors.

Old Furutaka was beyond bad. The timers and turret speed of a battleship with the fragility of a destroyer and the guns of a medicore cruiser. I still don't know how i managed to suffer trough it.
Howard Roark May 30, 2019 @ 4:01pm
I agree that the Omaha is a solid ship. It's one of my best (if not the best) preforming tier 5 ships of any class.

I really liked the Koenigsburg, first ship that really clicked with me and one of the few ships I kept as an elite.

I'm growing to really dislike the (tier 6) Pensacola. It's got nothing; no armor, terrible turret traverse, slow reload, and no torps. It has good guns, but the no armor and terrible traverse make them difficult to use before dying. I probably haven't figured the ship out yet, but so far the ship is rapidly climbing my ranks of worst ships (I would much rather take the Emerald out than her).

You should have tried her at tier 7, she was even worse! As soon as you were spotted the whole enemy team shot at you, purely for the easy kill.
Rockstone May 31, 2019 @ 12:56am
Hmmm... let me think...

5. Mutsuki. Any damage will take out the engine. You are a sitting duck and you cannot
defend using guns. Horrible reload, little damage slugs and slow to aim. Just hope
your torps hit anything (and still working my way though it right now... :steamfacepalm: ).

4. Texas in co-op... game is over by the time you get out two decent shots.
Texas in random is great though.

3. Bretagne. Nice ship, did do some damage. But I "played" it after the CV rework.
Its AA is so bad, it is the target of any decent CV player. I was constantly dodging
those damned torps... Getting the Lyon is a huge relief (though the Bretagne has
more accurate guns).

2. Furutaka. I cannot survive any game in it.

1. Furious: Just horrible... did no damage whatsoever. FreeXP-ed my way out of
there at first chance. Made me decide to freeXP my way out of any tier-4 carrier...
I will be learning the carrier rework from tier-6...

Nice threat btw...

Maybe I just suck at this game and am doing things all wrong...

I love the Pensacola, I loved the Mutsuki, I loved the Bretagne and the Furutaka as well.

Pensacola and Furutaka both have great cannons, the Bretagne's cannons worked well for me too, not to mention it's impressive compliment of secondary guns. The Mutsuki, I think, is just very underrated. The cannons are absolutely useless, but once you get the torp upgrade, it's a monster.

Like I said though, there's a good chance I just have things all wrong.
Ryuu May 31, 2019 @ 4:04am
Mutsuki is good, basically forget about guns (but at least rotation is good for IJN!), but torps are great.
