Take a well known HE spammer, you can check fire chance % in port, set fires and try to force a ship to use their DCP, then reset the fires. As I'm sure you know, you need to cause 40% of their HP to be lost through fire damage (this doesn't include the damage caused by the shells themselves), and also to destroy the ship. It's not an easy achievement to get.

My three best ships for that are, and in order, HMS Nelson, IJN Zao and HMS Conqueror. Nelson is crazy good at it. Just have to learn to deal with her very 'meh' armor.

I personally used Iron Duke, tier 5 British BB for that. Just sail at a reasonable distance and fling HEs into battleships, BUT NOT in a salvo, shoot with one turret if a fire is set — wait a couple if seconds — if he puts out the fire — then you can shoot all remaining shells :wowshehe:
If he doesn't — just keep using alternating all turrets, he might do it after 1-2 more fires.

Also at that tier players often put out fires as soon as they get them, so that would be their demise.

Cruisers work as targets too, as long as they have no chance to become unspotted.

Arsonist took me a long time too. Liquidator is taking even longer.

Liquidator was not that hard before changes to flooding :) The main challenge was to not kill the target too early :D

I had better luck going with the lower tiers. More people run stock consumables with no flags and minimal commander skills at low tier so your chances of setting and killing with fires are much greater. You just have to actually set them. Try the Phoenix, Kuma, or RN BB. The Ishizuchi is also a decent firestarter if you have access to that one.

You will have to adjust your playstyle a little to actually get this achievement. Start fires and let them burn. The fire has to kill them, not your shells.

Yeah, tier 4-5 is enough. But AFAIR that campaign task requires tier 5, that's why i went with Iron Duke. I think it's the easiest way :) I wanted it easy because i mostly play on DDs but it was pretty impossible to get with a DD.

Ah T5s, you may be right. So then use the Omaha, Iron Duke, Nicholas, and maybe the Furutaka.

When non-BBs set you on fire most players expect more fires so they don't put it out. While a BB shooting in non-salvos might trick them easier. Also it's just easier to keep yourself alive in a BB :)

But for a decent cruiser player — yeah shouldn't be a problem too.

I've just skipped that task, only done it much later to finish off all tasks.
Why do you need it so much exactly? Do you know you can redo tasks for stars (but not rewards) which you've already done?

Yeah, I got mine with Omaha before I got IFHE. Low damage, high fire chance, high RoF, perfect combo for Arsonist. Furutaka and RN BB's have great fire chance, but much higher shell damage and lower fire-rate.

It's too bad they made Liquidator so hard though. I only have that and one other task until the first campaign is completely done.

It was REALLY hard for anyone who didn't play DD's. Now I think it's close enough to impossible to call it that :p

dont exactly need it
just set a goal so want to achieve it

ps about flooding, the speed reduction, does it only do it for the 30 seconds its flooding? or is it a small permanent nerf?

Ah, okay, i have finished all tasks in that campaign myself, i think it's actually the only non-special campaign for which i did it :\ I'm not a universal player.

Only during the flooding. If the target repairs — the nerf is immediately gone.

So you'd want to hit with low damage torps often for that but those usually have low flooding chance as well.

I recommend alternating torpedo tubes, don't launch all torpedoes at once. If using British DDs — you can even launch one by one with a big delay, it's still possible to hit that way a bit clumsy target, did it against Montana and Stalingrad in clan battles using Daring :) They were wet lol.
I think british torpedoes have a good balance of stats and flooding chance. Not a lot of range on lower tiers though.
