Hi Nick,

Unfortunately we do not have plans for VR currently. There are hardly any fixed reference points at sea and these are very much needed to prevent the user getting motion sickness.

There are currently two other VR sailing game/simulators on steam right now VR Regatta and VRSailing which is the more realistic out of the two using no fixed reference points. I have used both, neither of which produced any ill feelings or motion sickness and I have had some of the land base games get me sick. Try VRSailing by BeTomorrow and check out the quality.

Headsup to the dev here, as known not many have VR yet, but the VR market is growing rapidly, like here a chinese company (I believe) is working on a headset with 200 degree wide view and "8k" resolution ->

I'm not advertising, only want to show you that there are more players in the VR market than just the Vive and Oculus Rift, and the tech is increasing fast! So at least keep that in mind in your decision if you ever want to support VR.

I for one do only have the Rift dk 2 which is really terrible with screendoor effect but the experience of being in the game is truly amazing, it just needs better quality which is coming as I just showed.

Truly great times ahead for us gamers! :)

In favor of VR support here as a long time user of the Vive and before Rift SDK and Gear VR. Motion Sickness is something you get used to. I have used VR in race sims, flight sims and space sims for well over 100+ hours and your brain gets the grip of it.

I also was about to buy this until I saw this comment about their being no VR as I have an oculus rift - I will check out the other titles (thanks 69th_Mongeir)

I'll be buying Sailaway shortly but wanted to give a thumbs up for VR. I have a Vive and own VR Regatta and VRSailing, which were both fine - no motion sickness :)

I agree VR should be a thing, especially once u get the graphics polished up a bit
If you add VR so people would get motion sickness, that would only add to the realism lol I see some people sailing waaaay too heeled over in some rough seas and I've thought, if only they knew what that was like on a boat like that.

I will be seasick even in reality, so I think that it is natural to be seasick in VR.
And I realize that tolerance is obtained every time I experience VR sickness.
Human adaptability is wonderful.

I came here to answer this question. Call me when you have VR support.

Hello, I'll be very happy to have Vive support too ! Hope it'll come later then !

Rift CV1 user here and yeah, VR support would be great for this title (and probably entice me to buy it much sooner than I currently plan to!).

Yeah, this was my thought too. When you're rich and successful, see if you can find time to experiment :)

Nice thought, but being realistic. At the moment I am sailing in 27-30 knot winds with huge waves. I am feeling seasick already, it's quite a storm.

There would be a very strong poosibility that adding VR would cause very strong nausea, to the point you could also fall.

Not everyone gets sea-sick or nauseas off of computer simulations or VR. That's being realistic.
