Suggestions Thread.
Thought I would start a suggestions thread so the Devs can have somewhere to look at the thoughts of users on suggested improvements.Constructive criticism please.

* TrackIR support
* Freeform Boat Orbit Camera with WASD movement controls

Edit:

* Seamonsters - Seriously - Giant Octopuses - we need this!

Thought I would start a suggestions thread so the Devs can have somewhere to look at the thoughts of users on suggested improvements.Agree with the suggestions I have seen so far regarding screen resolution and general controls. The mouse reversal is so annoying, would be nice to be able to reverse this.constructive critisism please.

Good idea, I paste here what I wrote yesterday in another thread:

My suggestions to the DEV:
- forget the label on the line and do not force me to look the line while operating it (you are supposed to look the sheet not the line): create an on screen slider so I can move my head wherever I need or want and understand how much I have tightened or eased the line.
- (I assume this is already planned): let me associate two keys per each line - or at least the most common ones.
- the whole thing of the list of the views in my opinion is a good idea but not so usable: we do two or three things at once when sailing, because we have two hands (and sometime we also use the legs :D), I think it would be much more usable (maybe less graphically great) to have a small on screen dashboard with all the lines ready for control instead of moving around: try to think in a hard time like during a storm...

my two cents, just because I really loved the idea of the game and I was looking forward to play it.
- Have a way to trim sails and lines whle orbiting the boat.
- Consider a "Control Box" that is draggagable (floatinting/sizable) so you can manipulate sail controlls from any given perspective. Not just looking at the bottom of a line while using it.
- Maybe control lines by hovering my mouse over it and scroll in out to adjust tension.
-- combine the two for flexible control options. :)

* Both of these would allow you to watch the sail shapes and tell-tales while making adjustments.

More real world immersion would be fantastic,

- Random sea life (Sharks, Dolphins, Whales, Large fish, even Birds).
- Random high altitude planes with trails on clear days.
- Possible AI ships in known shipping lanes.
- Fog, Snow and Frozen water at the poles with icebergs (its sub tropical at the moment).
- Functional detailed Cabins.
- Catamaran.
- Link to NOAA forecasts charts to work around storms.
- Eat, drink, and sleep to maintain energy, health, and morale while on long journeys.

Just a few ideas, will probably think of some more along the way.

+1 for all except the need to eat, drink etc. Its enough I have to do it IRL :)

edit: although thinking about it it would be cool to have to pack provisions etc. just have the character use them automatically.

How About Light houses and other navigation aids, lights on bouys and bells too. Plus Nav lights on each boat so that you can locate each other!

Another few idea's for immersion,

-Shooting stars in night sky.
-Aurora Borealis in the northern regions.
-With the game being persistent, the bed in the functional cabin could have the game exit tab.
-Functional radio with the ability to add links to internet radio/oceanic weather stations.

Oh and maybe,

-The ability to write a journal in the cabin, access table and type (small fun factor).
-A laptop with the ability to add rss news feeds.
-Customisable character with clothing purchases (money earned from competing in events), fake names like Musty instead of Musto and Harry Floyd/Henri Lloyd or Shelly Hanson/Helly Hansen, Jill/Gill.
I would love to lay on my boat on a cold winter night and gaze up at the Aurora Borealis in northern latitudes. Not a priority right now I know, but maybe later on down the line? Please :)
Echoing the other comments on trim UI. I really want to be able to free look while adjusting a sheet, so i can check tell tales, sail shape and how the other sail is being affected. Staring at the line while trimming is next to useless. Also means that trimming and look need to be able to be done at the same time (i.e. not both with the mouse)

While on the subject of look, it would be very helpful to shift your head, not just look around. Especially when at the helm and trying to figure out the position to the mark, you really want to be able to shift back and forth to look around the sails, etc.

I know no VR support is currently planned but it would really solve the look problem and leave your hands free for trim.

I see so much potential in this simulator and I think right control schemes will have to just emerge as we all play with them during early access. Looking forward to helping and experimenting.
Regarding inverted mouse , it seems to work "normally" when in external view. Also zoom does not work when on board boat, (for me at least), but does in external view.
- save/load waypoints
- a gps tracklog and ability to save and/or load that
