Sail trimming
I've just tryed the game, im loving it and i am going to sail more in the next days.
The first thing i noticed is that trimming sails without looking at them is harder than it should be.
In real we are always watching many things, sails waves, horizon, compass etc etc.

Are you planning this feature?

I haven't understood how to drop anchors, is there a way?
and navigate in the storm with anchors?

Cya.

Two people in this group pointed out to me the keyboard shortcuts for choosing sails. You may know those already, if not check my post. I agree with you, there's room for further improvement.

Yep, there is always room for improvement. BTW che feeling is good, the only thing killing my immersion was the locked view of the fiocco trimming.

Thank for you reply anyway :D

Hi, your ships have no anchor (yet), so you can't drop these. After lowering all your sails the ship will turn its bow into the wind direction and is then considered as being anchored. For trimming your sails while having a direct accurate view about these is the trim info screen in the navigation panel (for me) very informative.

And the dev is working at improving the trimming so it would be possible to see the sails. For now just use the trim tab.

If you right click below the sail after highlighting the line you wish to adjust it will move the camera so you can see the Mainsail and the Genoa - you can then control the changes with the keyboard, (W/S) It's not great but it is better than blind

Not entirely true. There is an anchor allbeit a pretty abstract version of one. Just click the Navigation Options icon at the top of the screen, at the bottom of the drop down menu is "Stop Sailing and Stay at this Position" - Anchor Icon.

You're both right. You can "anchor" but there is no animated anchor in game. Today's implementation allows you to anchor anywhere...even in 200m deep water (as I did last night LOL)

I agree unlocking view from line you trim and have it still selected if you look away would be awesome .

i would suggest even more than that , it is free view always, with keyboard shortcuts for each rope with config file for them. the Trim view shound be integrated in the real sail / main view as "wireframe overlay" or equivalent to see exactly the sail profile.
