Read Me!!! For those unable to launch the game from steam
Easy fix is to right click game in steam Library>Manage game > go to local folder and create a shortcut from the WOFF.exe and save it where you want (i.e. desktop). You can rename it and change the icon back to Cactuar if you want (I kept the goblin)

While multiple fixes and workarounds have been posted before, none of these should be done by us and it's really down to Square Enix to fix up this mess. Not being able to do something as fundamental as launching a game bought from Steam is downright embarassing. It's the reason why I have yet to purchase it here. Thank goodness for Steam Cloud being enabled by Jason from the Square Enix Support Team a while ago but we still need this game starting issue fixed officially.

On the one hand, I agree with you that it shouldn't be up to us to fix this.

On the other hand, it shouldn't be up to me to sidestep my neighbor's dog's pile of excrement from their morning walk, either.

Sometimes, life isn't fair, and all things considered, this is a relatively minor nuisance. Doesn't make it right on principle, but at the same time, I'm not about to march in the streets over it.

A simple solution that worked for me:
Right click WOFF in your library, click 'Manage', go to 'Browse Local Files', Right click the WOFF file (not WOFF Config), Run as Administrator.
I think I have found a fix... at least for myself. Hopefully when you try this it will fix it for you too.

On Steam go to World of Final Fantasy, go to the Cog Wheel, select properties. Go to the installed files tab and select browse files at the top. You'll select the game application WOFF.exe file right click select properties again Go to the compatibility tab and select in there at the top you'll see Compatibility Mode, it should be grayed out and already have windows 8 selected. Tick the box "Run this program in compatibility mode" and in the drop down select Windows 7.

You have to also tick below "Run this program in administrator" It isn't necessary to tick "Disable full-screen optimization" or going into and ticking "Override high DPI scaling behavior" Neither of these 2 settings affect the launching of the game. When the game does launch you'll be greeted with a blue screen that reads something along the lines "Graphical settings can not be changed once game is launched." Don't be alarmed. This game does not support mouse and keyboard even tho when you do get into the game you'll be greeted with commands using keyboard keys instead of controller keys. Just plug in your favorite controller. XBOX, PS4, PS5 Duelsense, Nintendo Pro Controller, ect. (This game supports them all!) and hit A or whatever key on the controller it is that you use to hit confirm.

This will bypass that blue screen and take you into the game. Enjoy! Hope this helps.
