What exactly does Maxima add?
I know it says "This new and enhanced version of WORLD OF FINAL FANTASY also features the Avatar Change system, which allows the protagonists, Reynn and Lann, to fight as Champions. Fight your way through exhilarating battles as legendary FINAL FANTASY heroes!" but does this mean you can play as all the final fantasy character summons instead of the 2 main characters?

Here's a list I got from another site compiled from a Japanese livestream
- Can now carry 12 Mirages instead of 10
– Unlock “Treasure Search” after clearing the game, which makes finding treasure chests easier
– Lots of rare items have been added, mainly battle-related
– New Game+ has been added.
– Can listen to the song “Innocent³” from World of Final Fantasy: Meli-Melo in Theater Mode
– The “Sandstalker” minigame has been made easier to play
– Catching the three starter Mirages (Fritt, Bablizz, and Zapt) has been made easier
– Hauyn can join the party after clearing the game
– Enna Kros has been added as an extra boss battle
– An EX Dungeon in which Garland appears has been added
– The Immortal Dragon of Darkness appears; an enemy that appears at the beginning of the World of Final Fantasy: Meli-Melo manga, it is one of the Exnine Knights; it is even stronger than Brandelis
– You can fight Brandelis again
– New “Nightmare” difficulty: even small enemies are significantly stronger
– New, fully-voiced Champion Intervention Quests
– New secret ending
– Can battle Marilith as a boss character in an EX Dungeon
– Avatar Change: By obtaining the “Champion Stone,” you can transform into legendary Final Fantasy characters in battle; each character has their own battle background music and skills
– A minigame where you can fish with Noctis has been added. You can even reel in a Leviathan
– Hauyn’s Archives: Characters that first appeared in World of Final Fantasy have “World of Final Fantasy (Apocrypha)” written in their “First World of Origin” field in the encyclopedia; these Apocrypha can be read as Hauyn’s Archives, which are scattered throughout the game world and must be gathered
– New Mirages and Champions in the encyclopedia; since there is a little more story after clearing the game, additional descriptions have also been added to Lann, Reynn, and Hauyn’s entries

Couldn't select it when starting fresh, I suppose you need to finish the game and get into newgame+!

Wow, I've not seen any marketing on this, no news articles, no updates teasers, nothing at E3 or Gamescon or TGF or anything, nothing on news websites, no promotion, nada. I literally removed this game the other day because i was certain they were "done" with it, not recieving any updates or patches (not that it needs too many patches, but could certainly have a few). I find this approach poor, the fact things like making a minigame already in the base game easier from just purchasing the "DLC" seems a bit shady to me...same thing with "balance" changes like making certain mirages "easier" to catch. I dunno if it's an eastern things but it seems super weird to gate balancing changes behind DLC...not sure if it's worth £11.99 even though i did enjoy the majority of the game for the most part, wish we had more "monster catching" games like this that are good.

Yeah the pc version is cheaper (I did think it was 30$ new, but I boguht on sale so I never looked) and so it +dlc is basicly the same.. but the ps4 verion is 40 + 16 for the DLC so.. They get ripped off.

You only get ripped off if you pay it. The problem is console gamers don't care about pricing as much as PC gamers. I would never buy this game for 50-60 Euro, ever. Console gamers however do pay that price willingly it seems.

A really high quality game with tons of content is worth 40 Euro for me max. If a game exceeds this then I will wait for a sale to get my acceptable price. I wish console gamers would simply not buy, but it seems enough people just pay.

40€ was the price i paid for WoFF on Vita.

Then you know that games never have inflation ? If video games did have inflation then a AAA would cost 90-100€/$ today. That's why DLC was a "necessity" for video games industries because it costs far more money to make a game now than 20 years ago.

The reason might be that you can resell console games. while a digital download on PC is a total loss. Also it feels stupid to pay full price on PC when games go on sale after a few weeks like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, or ar discounted on day 1 on key shops like Dragon Quest XI.

So what?

I want all games to have 24fps, but it doesn't happen.
Same with what you want.
So please, follow my example, and learn how to abandon that wish ^_^

So i can just download a savegame and hop straight in?
Do you keep your level and gear or does it start you fresh?

You keep your Level, you keep your equipment, you keep most of your mirages and quite a few other things. The nightmare mode can enabled/disabled in the settings at any time in NG+ as soon as it's available (after the tutorial... if I remember correctly, it was in chapter 3).

I assume by TGF you mean TGS, if so... it had a presence there, but the western outlets didn't really pick up on it too much (SE did a major live streamed panel on it, that was basically 3/4th the Maxima DLC/Switch port and then some token announcements for the FF ports for Switch, that had already been covered in the Nintendo Direct prior).

I would also add that I think the balance changes are actually available to everyone for free as part of the pre-Maxima patch, I kind of tuned out when they talked about that patch on Monday's dev stream though so I might be mistaken (however the notes on PS4 for that same patch mention balance changes and Maxima stuff as separate items so that would point to it being included whether you buy the DLC or not).

No! Don't need it anyway. Turn based, slow action game.

Indeed, i could see it being a problem if it was an action game, like Tales of Berseria or Devil May Cry, but Turn-Based games don't need that...

...I would say that if not for one thing.
You can make the battles here in WoFF to be Full-Active-Time, and all action select and turns happen seamlessly, which means you need to pay attention to battle in real time and react with corresponding shortcuts.
